Industrial is a buzz word for a reason, the spaces have character, and they can be transformed to however you dream of. With colour, with texture and with plenty of personality.

One of Melbourne’s favourite industrial wedding venues (just look at all the weddings they’ve held at their space!) Two Ton Max, located in North Melbourne is an utterly blank canvas for your wedding day. The venue can hold 200 guests for a seated function and more for cocktail weddings. With polished cement floors, bare white walls and exposed metal beams, you can dream up whatever you like for this modern industrial setting.
Bayside couples rejoice because the brand new Luna Event Space is open and ready for you! In the seaside suburb of Highett, 40rd can accommodate 200 guests for a cocktail celebration or 150 for a more traditional seated party. With all white roofing and walls, a cemented floor and industrial fit-out, it’s such a brilliant blank canvas for your own magic-making. To see it in action? The raw space of a nursery as it turns out makes for one stunner of a wedding venue. Glasshaus Inside, in Cremorne, offering up all the styling you love about industrial venues- exposed beams, white walls and cement walls amongst the gorgeous greenery of their live plants. Glasshaus has two spaces (‘Inside’ pictured, and also ‘Outside’) and can accommodate 85 guests for sitdown dinners and 125 for cocktail parties.
If you have a big guest list, then the 230-capacity (600 for cocktail functions) Showtime Events Centre is for you. The former docking shed has been styled up with an industrial-inspired chandelier decorative bar, and endless amenities. See it in action at this gorgeous wedding. (and check out a venue tour here)
Cargo Hall was a converted docking shed and today brings to life echoes of its maritime history in a space just the ticket for weddings, Wooden floors (original), corrugated iron detail and a mezzanine level so you can watch your guests from above. It holds 450 guests for a cocktail celebration and 180 for a dance-filled wedding reception. Check out a venue tour here.
Moondog Brewery Ballroom Oasis
Moondog Brewery is what we call working industrial, because right next door? Is an actual working brewery. So not just for show, means this venue has the raw, rustic venue vibes we know and love. The warehouse space, located in Abbotsford, can hold 50-120 people depending on layout and even comes with its own inbuilt bar (serving up their famous beer of course!).
Alto Event Space is the place to book if you want to combine an urban setting, with industrial styling and all the glamour of a rooftop. This inner-city venue had floor to ceiling windows that make the most of its city skyline views. Cement flooring and an exposed ceiling give this space a beautiful blend of industrial and glam beauty. You’ll be able to fit 400 guests for a cocktail wedding, or 150 for a sit-down dinner here.
Also, an art gallery, the inner city venue of Fortyfive Downstairs, situated right on Flinders Lane is a pick for many for a reason. With wooden floors, beautiful arched windows and a press metal ceiling space is a slightly warmer canvas for your occasion, exclusively catered by the pros at Ed Dixon Food Design. The venue only releases limited dates for weddings and can hold up to 160 guests.
Lux Foundry is a go-to for coffee and brunch, but it turns out, they’re also up for a good wedding! Located in the too cool Brunswick, the venue, with polished cement walls, exposed brick walls and epic industrial vibes can hold 130 for cocktail parties in the cafe and 150 if you book the full space.
Smart Artz Gallery mixes their gorgeous industrial styling with beautiful art gallery functionality. The South Melbourne venue is one of the few on our list that has its own in-house caterers, so it’s an all in one venue that is so “done for you”. The space can accommodate 150 guests for sit down functions and 300 for cocktail parties.
Looking for an industrial wedding venue of grand proportions? Oh, you’re going to love The Substation. The grand space, in Newport, can hold 500 guests standing or 250 seated. It features the most amazing sky-high arched windows, covered by red velvet drapes, ceilings that at over 8 metres high and will simply make every single guest gasp with utter amazement as they enter.

The Line is located in a Fitzroy warehouse that makes for beautiful weddings The space, with its polished cement floors, and high ceilings has a raw industrial vibe that we adore. It can hold up to 200 guests and allows you to customise every element of decor. See it all gussied up here.
Onboard with the working warehouse idea? Then consider The Craft & Co! This urban winery, brewery, distillery and dairy – amongst many others things, make their own gin, their own cheese, their own beer and even teaches you how to do the same. The venue, in Collingwood, has three different spaces available for weddings, able to accommodate from 60 to 250+ depending on the style of your event. See it in action for Claire & Jeremy here.
If you want to blend industrial styling with all the hip atmosphere of an inner-city bar, then you’ll love Longsong. The space can host up to 250 guests cocktail style or 120 seated, and is located right in the heart of the city on Little Bourke Street. The exposed bricks and ceiling, wooden floors form its home as a former horse stable, tick all the industrial boxes.
Mixing clean lines and industrial styling, Kensington Collective attracts freelancers for coworking by day and events by night. The space, a converted wool store features beautiful high ceilings and raw metal beams is over 3000 square metres in size and offer up multiple options for weddings.
When it comes to classic industrial, we think brick walls and cement floors and it’s this, no fuss that leads us to Small Talks Event Space. Set in Abbotsford, the venue can hold 150 people and features its own private courtyard, you can dream and decorate this space to your heart’s desire because the blank canvas is the perfect clean slate. In hip Fitzroy, lies The Highline. It’s on the modern side on industrial, in sleek, pale grey and white tones. The venue features beautiful Crittall doors which add to that modern, clean styling. The Highline can hold, in the main gallery 120 guests sitdown or 180 cocktail style.
File Mountain Goat Brewery under “old favourite” because there is a reason this beauty is so popular. The working brewery, in Richmond, can accommodate 150 guests and features exposed brick walls, high ceilings and of course, a cement floor.
Just as it says on the tin, 524 Flinders is right in the heart of Flinders Street. The space is designed to be a completely blank canvas warehouse, so it’s decked out in all-white walls and ceilings with a stunning concrete floor. You can hire the venue bare-bones, or work with the team to bring in everything- so it’s completely customisable. This space can hold 270 guests standing or 130 seated.
Housed in the home of one of Melbourne’s oldest wool Mills, The Wool Mills, located in Brunswick East offers up to stories of industrial spaces for your event (marry in one, celebrate in another!) and has all the industrial style you’re craving. Polished cement floors, exposed black beams and a blank canvas of white walls. Check check check!
Oh hello, blank canvas of Canvas House. We cannot wait to see all the myriad of ways you can transform this white, brick, black and cement styled venue! The South Melbourne venue boasts six-metre-high cathedral ceilings, so you could say there is plenty of room for 200 banquet style or 300 cocktail style.
In the heart of Richmond lies Butler Lane. The venue, a converted warehouse can host 300 guests for a cocktail wedding or 150 for a sit-down reception. It’s got pitched ceilings and polished floors- so all the warehouse charm you’ve come to expect, alongside the architecturally designed space. The bonus? There’s even a private courtyard to enjoy those summer nights!
If there ever was a favourite venue for brunch, it’d be Higher Ground so why not tie the knot there? The two level space has the most stunning brickwork, exposed cement beams, high pitched ceilings and it can hold up to 3000 guests for a cocktail reception or 120 guests for sit down. Located right on Little Bourke Street in the city, you can file this one under central. industrial and beautiful!
Rubix Warehouse is decked out with so much raw, industrial style we knew we needed to add it to this list! Located in Brunswick, the venue is decked out in graffiti, and plenty of character (especially in our favourite spot the Steampunk Saloon) and can hold up to 300 people. So if you want something a little more offbeat than modern, this venue is going to be your jam. You can see this one used for a wedding at the wedding of Sylvia and Yue here.
Williamstown couples this one is for you. Maritime venue Seaworks has an epic space available for weddings. The Gallery is quite frankly enormous. Floor to ceiling windows pitched roof and all the industrial style of a maritime style warehouse. Bonus? You can arrive via ferry, making the most of the venue’s awesome city views.
Cosy cafe Brunswick Foodstore is a favourite among many and a grand spot for a wedding. Corrugated iron and white walls, industrial fittings and a gorgeous wooden floor all providing a beautiful backdrop for an epic celebration. The venue can hold 70-90 guests for half venue hire, or up to 150 guests if you book the entire venue. See it take centre stage in this surprise wedding.
Ellis Street Studio located off Chapel Street, could be considered somewhat of a hidden gem. The venue, which can hold up to 150 guests (100 seated) is a converted warehouse with an unassuming entrance. Complete with an inbuilt bar, industrial fit-out and it’s own onsite kitchen, this venue is only limited by your imagination. Plus you can dance until 3 am without worries of noise restrictions. yes, please!
Trunk is an industrial-style venue right in the heart of the city. It’s design, which houses a restaurant and outdoor garden is not as open as some of the other spaces we’ve featured. which is why I love it. It’s got little corners and nooks and crannies to customise and make your own. There are multiple spaces for hire (the Main Hall pictured holds 115 guests for a sit-down dinner), or you can choose the entire venue which holds 400 guests.
Scienceworks Pumping Station Boiler House
Scienceworks Pumping Station Boiler House at Scienceworks in Spotswood has the most brilliant French Renaissance facade, and as it should, the venue has been around since the 1890s. The best part? Now you can tie the knot there! The Boiler Room (pictured) can accommodate 220 guests for a sit-down wedding or 250 for cocktail style, or you can choose the engine room. The smaller space can hold 80 guests for a sit-down reception or 200 for cocktail weddings. See it in action here.
Photography studio come event space XO Studios can be whatever you want it to be when it comes to your wedding. Polished cement floors, large windows and white fit-out mean this neutral space is just the ticket for, well, whatever you want! The venue can hold up to 150 and is located in Brunswick East, so not only is it beautifully industrial, but it’s also convenient!
The Woolshed
One of the newer kids on the block, set in the Docklands precinct, The Woolshed, has a multitude of configurations for your wedding. The entire venue can hold 720 guests, or you can book one of the smaller rooms (the Harbour View Room holds 150 while the Fireside Room holds 420) for your guest list. There is carefully considered industrial detail here- original cargo doors, exposed ceilings alongside rust, brass and tin all woven together. There’s even a balcony with epic views available. We’re loving the industrial style of West Melbourne’s Gather & Tailor, because those large wooden beams next to the wood floor are really something else. There are two warehouse spaces available to book – Warehouse One holding 200 guests for a cocktail party and 150 for a banquet, while Warehouse Two in can host up to 500 guests for a cocktail wedding or 350 for a sit-down dinner.
As the name suggests it historically made buttons, but today, The Button Factory has plenty of versatile spaces for your wedding. Located in Cheltenham, recently restored and reopened in 2019, we’re picking the Maxart space as a winner, pictured above, it has a capacity for 250 and features a blank white canvas for your styling dreams to come to life.
Brunswick really is the hub when it comes to industrial wedding venues, because next on our list is Noisy Ritual, an urban winery which means you get to celebrate with your guests right next to the wine barrels! With exposed ceilings and white walls, the venue can host 150 guests standing of 120 seated.
