We’re going back in time today as a Brisbane dream team delivers an emotional shoot packed with retro, tiki-inspired wedding ideas. From the emerald green tile of the bar to tones of burgundy and mustard, to the retro flatware and decor, this one is for lovers of times gone by.
Using the seventies styled country hall of Loyal Hope Of The Valley, the team – led by stylist Cara of St. Aisle – created three distinct looks. A ceremony setup is filled with vintage cane pieces, plenty of candlelight and tonal floral arrangements (also by St. Aisle). There’s an interlude in the sunshine with a vintage Wheels To Weddings car and, of course, the celebration with a reception centred around dark wooden tones, vintage details and a decadent (and no doubt delicious) Bakeistry cake, complete with caramel drizzle. Keira McCall was behind the camera, documenting every detail.

“I wanted to show how small details can make a wedding, so I focused on intricate details (e.g. 70’s themed cutlery), keeping consistent with the colour palette and having unique tiki-inspired decor,” explains Cara. “I focused on having a consistent colour palette and paid extra attention to the colours matching from the ceremony, table and throughout the venue. It’s not every day you get to decorate a venue to your liking. So I wanted the shoot to be fun and unique like every couples’ day should be!”

That “couple” – models Tahlia Winter and Jack Polking – were more than obliging. Tahlia was dressed in a Luna Willow Bridal gown, with loose waves and a vintage-inspired makeup look styled by Blush’d Brides. While our groom, Jack, paired his classic suit from Black Jacket Suiting with accessories from That Dapper Chap.
