Kayla & Rhys
Marrying in the gardens of Werribee Mansion, Kayla and Rhys were surrounded by urns of open garden roses and hydrangeas while the sun shone on their classic wedding. Elegant and filled with love, the bride and groom planned their day around laughter and dancing, and it paid off! Lost in Love Photography captured the day.
Kayla and Rhys met when they were 9 years old, in Year 3 at school. Reconnecting in Year 9 at high school, they started dating in Year 10. Marrying your best friend and childhood crush is one of our favourite love stories!
Choosing the first dress she tried on, the bride found her dream gown at Embrace Bridal Boutique. She shares, ”I was amazed by how it captured everything I wanted in a dress, from the lace details to the mermaid style. During the day I kept my late nanna’s handkerchief in my dress. This was something to remember her by on the day.” The groom wore a classic black suit with satin lapel from Eddy Elias. His shoes had an engraving of a train on the soles in commemoration of his late granddad.
The private courtyard of Werribee Mansion provided the perfect spot for Kayla and Rhys’s ceremony. They remember, ”We had our ceremony surrounded by the arches of the mansion and flowers from Prunella. I walked down the aisle to an acoustic version of ‘A thousand Years’ by Christina Perri. This was the first song Rhys and I ever danced to and was beautifully played and sung by the amazing Andrew Loadsman. Some of the major elements we really wanted was having it outdoors on a beautiful sunny day, surrounded by flowers, the stunning mansion, live acoustic music and our close friends and family. We wanted our ceremony to be short and sweet, capturing the relaxed environment of the day. Our celebrant Kate Morgan further enhanced this feeling as she told our story as a couple and how we came to this moment. Commemoration to our late grandparents was an essential component to the start of the ceremony for us.”
Creating lavish and autumnal floral arrangements, Prunella designed the stunning hydrangea and rose filled urns. The bride tells, ”They created elegant arrangements with classic white, green and pastel tones. They did a fantastic job at providing florals for the day, they truly took your breath away.” Capturing the wedding celebrations were Lyndel and Daniel from Lost in Love Photography. Kayla and Rhys share, ”We couldn’t have asked for better photographers. They made us feel incredibly comfortable throughout the day and created the most magical wedding photos which showed both the beauty and the fun we experienced during the day.”
Classic elegance was the style of the day, and Laura from Weddings Of Desire put together this gorgeous celebration! The bride says, ”We loved the idea of lush greens and soft tones to create a romantic and intimate space. Our reception had large amounts of long stick candles that created warmth to the room. Outside of the pavilion we had the dance floor with festoon lighting and a DJ along with a saxophonist. Surrounding the dancefloor, we had high bar tables and stools with florals on each table. Our reception was set at the stunning pavilion next to the Polo Field, a mere 50-meter walk from the ceremony site, making the experience incredibly simple for our guests and vendors. Laura created our dream wedding; the day was incredible, full of laughter and dancing which is exactly what we wanted.”
Adding a very personal touch to the day, both the bride and groom had photographs of family members amongst the styling. They share, ”Rhys and I wanted to have photographs of our late grandparents at our reception. It was an important element for us as they had only recently passed away and we wanted them to be included in celebrating this day with us.”For their first dance, Kayla and Rhys danced to ‘Perfect’ by Ed Sheeran, with a saxophonist playing from Rutherford Entertainment during the song. Thrilled with every detail of the day, the newlyweds tell, ”Weddings Of Desire made the planning process such a breeze. As my husband and I were still studying at the time, we left the planning in their hands. It was the best thing we ever did, Laura’s vision for Rhys and I was more than we could ever had asked for and we are privileged to have Laura plan our special day.”
