Kayla & Josh
I’m always upfront about one simple fact around Polka Dot Bride – Autumn is my favourite and you will never change my mind. So when Kayla and Josh wed with a backdrop of Autumnal orange vineyards? It was just the ticket for The Autumn Issue and immediately had me dreaming over every Autumnal detail!
It was in the beautiful Southern Highlands that Kayla and Josh said “I Do”, with Russell Stafford behind the camera. They dreamt of a day that was “Laid back country feeling. Focused on love and happiness”.
After meeting through mutual friends, the pair couldn’t keep their eyes off one another and of course, were soon falling in love. It was a rainy day in the city when Josh popped the question. Kayla fills us in, “I was so unaware of what was ahead of that I’d never gotten out of my pyjama top from the night before! I remember mum was secretly cluey about Josh’s intention for the day so was really pushy and telling me to get changed but I was like ‘Naa this looks fine.’ We ventured into the city for the day and I suggestively pointed out some engagement rings I liked! We got seafood from our favourite fish and chip shop and revisited Luna Park where we met. Was pouring rain but being in rain makes me hysterical (yes you read that right) so I was a giggling mess for most of the day.
He took me to Wendy’s secret garden where we found a wooden hut sheltered from the rain with a little picnic.
Then we went into the rain together and Josh told me his deep hopes for us, he expressed how much he respects and adores me and that he wants his heart to be my home forever. He said, “will you marry me?” And I said, “100% YES”.
Kayla and Josh met before their ceremony for a “first touch”, a beautiful, quiet moment together.
Kayla chose her Mon Cheri gown at Brides Of Sydney, explaining “It was the dress I kept comparing other dresses to which is how I knew it was the one. Made me feel so beautiful, elegant and a little sexy.”
Kayla and Josh chose the beautiful Centennial Vineyards Bowral for their ceremony and reception, saying their vows in front of Autumn coloured vineyards. Kayla explains “Centennial Vineyards was one of our easiest choices. We viewed five venues and liked them but weren’t quite right. We could see Centennial was a perfect fit for our day immediately. The grounds and reception area are stunning even left bare which is awesome when you’re on a budget! We got married and had the post-ceremony party both at Centennial. Staff were flawless with attention to detail and ran our day seamlessly.”
Kayla walked down the aisle with her father to Jason Mraz’ s “Love Someone” performed live by the bride’s friend.
Kayla and Josh were married by Jonathan Shanks in a ceremony centred around their beliefs. Kayla telling “We focused on devoted love, a love made stronger with God at the centre. We included Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 and Romans 12: 9-16.”
Kayla and Josh chose Russell Stafford to capture their day, sharing “Highly highly recommended+++ to anyone, good heavens he was good! Such a quality guy who will deliver quality photos that capture all the emotions and intricate details of your special day to remember forever. He took the time and made us a Live Photo album slideshow, gave us prints and a personalised USB.”
Kayla and Josh planned for a classic sit down reception by the warmth of the fire.
Kayla and Josh set their tables with simple floral details thanks to floral stylist Posy Jones, Kayla noting “We had simple flowers from Posy Jones which matched the bridesmaid dresses, with happy yellow pompom flowers.
The groom surprised his new wife with a song he had written, perfuming it just for her. “So beautiful! As if your heart couldn’t not melt” she remembers.
Kayla and Josh took to the dance floor to Boyce Avenue’s version of the Bruno Mars favourite “Just The Way You Are”.
Kayla and Josh wanted to make sure their dance floor was packed, so they chose Darcy Milne to spin the tunes. “The dance floor at the end of the night also went off for hours with DJ Darcy Milne!! The free-flowing wine and beer also helped!”
A big congratulations to you both Kayla and Josh! Thank you for sharing your beautiful day with us! Thank you also to Russell Stafford for sharing today’s beautiful images!
wow, those autumn colours are stunning!
