Shalini & Kaleb

When it comes to weddings, I love nothing more than a dapper black tie, combined with beautiful florals and today’s wedding has both boxes checked – and checked beautifully! For Shalini and Kaleb, their dream for their day, was for it to be all about classic, elegant and romantic styling and as captured by Lovers Narrative they nailed their own beautiful modern wedding day vibes.

It was at university that these two first laid eyes on each other, their paths crossing many times until they finally hit the go button and fell in love, bonding over their shared combination of both New Zealand and Sri Lankan parents. With his bride’s love of family and friends in mind, Kaleb popped the question in Shalini’s hometown of Auckland, New Zealand on a hike up to the island volcano of Rangitoto.

Kaleb and his groomsmen were dressed in smart black tie suits from  Oscar Hunt, the groom donning a white jacket, just as his father, grandfather and great-grandfather each did on their own wedding days.

The bride chose an elegant gown by designer Anna Schimmel. She tells “I chose my gown due to its feminine design featuring flattering cuts, and classic minimalistic style.” The bride added her mother’s own wedding veil, worn also by her sister, on her own wedding day, just two months earlier.

Gabby Webb Make Up & Hair By Natalie Jaye shared the bride and bridesmaid’s hair and makeup looks. “Getting ready in the morning could not have been anymore fun with the help of Gabby Webb Make Up and Hair by Natalie Jaye – both are absolute professionals able to bring a lightness and added nothing but joy and laughs to the morning” tells the bride,

Billie Jean Botanicals  created the lush, dahlia filled bouquets for the day, Shalini sharing “Billie Jean Botanicals created seasonal arrangements that still had lots of texture and movement as per my request and Hilary’s vision. The palette was a mix of greens, creams and whites with shades of pink to complement – dusty rose, blush and soft pinks. With plenty of eucalyptus – my favourites.”

Shalini & Kaleb chose to meet before their ceremony for a first look. Shalini telling of their photographer “Kerri was so professional and made us feel comfortable. We love how natural the photos look, and how the happiness we felt on the day really shines through. She really captured so many moments in such a lovely way.”

Shalini & Kaleb were married by Father Bob, choosing their reception venue of  The Point Albert Park for their ceremony. Shalini sharing “Our ceremony took place by the lake on Albert Park. We were married by a priest, however, we wanted to keep the ceremony natural full of happiness and laughs, and short, well delivered by Father Bob.”

The couple chose for their day, The Point Albert Park. “The Point Albert Park was the setting for the ceremony by the lake, and the inside of the venue provided a classic setting to enjoy good food and wine.”

Shalini & Kaleb took to the dance floor to the sounds of  “Something Just Like This” by Coldplay and the Chainsmokers for their first dance.

Guests danced the night away with the help of live band, The Baker Boys. Shares Shalini “We had such an amazing evening with our family and friends. The Baker Boys band provided fantastic music helping us dance the night away.”

A big congratulations to the newlyweds! Thank you for taking the time to share your day with us, Thank you also to Lovers Narrative for sharing today’s celebration!
