The Whitsundays have been a popular honeymoon destination for quite some time and there’s plenty of reasons why. If some of the most magical white sand beaches and clear blue water weren’t enough to draw you in and you want more than just a relaxing tropical honeymoon, then we are here to show you what it’s all about!

Grab your suitcases because after you read just how much there is to do in the Whitsundays you wont want to consider anywhere else.

A Sailing Adventure

Whether the famous Whitehaven Beach tickles your fancy or the Great Barrier Reef, there’s a tonne of sailing experiences to choose from all varying in lengths. See if you can spot a turtle or sit back and sip a pina colada taking in the sunshine and sea breeze.

Depending on which cruise you select, prices will set you back approximately $250, though some sailing trips will include snorkelling, a beach walk or even an overnight stay.

But what’s it like from above?

Maybe sea sickness is too much for you to stomach on a honeymoon so opt for the high flying alternative! Whilst it will generally be a little more expensive than sailing, your honeymoon is the perfect time to splurge and tick a few things off the bucket list.

Take a seaplane or a helicopter and see the world like the birds do. Take a couple of Instagram worthy pics (let’s face it, any photo of that scenery is Instagram worthy!), you might even get to fly over Love Reef, famous for proposals and the romance it inspires.

If you’re feeling game there are sky diving tours available too.

For those who would rather stay on land

Not all the fun happens out at sea, whilst the sea is beautiful and alluring we cant forget about the beautiful lush rainforest that we are lucky to be able to explore. Test out your balancing skills and take a Segway tour spotting local wildlife along the way. Stop for a snack before getting back to it again. Don’t worry you don’t need to have ridden a Segway before, this experience caters to beginners.

While your feet are firmly on the ground and not at sea or in the sky, test your courage on a crocodile safari. This half day tour will take you through the Proserpine River where you will spot saltwater crocodiles. You will stop for a BBQ lunch and have the opportunity to taste some traditional bush tucker as well as some damper and tea.

So there you have it, there really is more to the Whitsundays than sunbaking and massages. I don’t know about you but my bags are packed and I’m ready to go!
