Caitie and Antman

It was a hot night with live music in Indonesia that led today’s happy couple, Caitie and Antman, to meet. “We met at a gig in Yogyakarta. There was this incredible solo Japanese drummer playing on the floor with everyone standing around him,” tells Caitie. “Of course, I spotted this handsome, tall, blonde guy straight away in the crowd of Indonesians and I went over and introduced myself. I had recently moved to Yogyakarta to study and Antman was already living there as a teacher so we got to know each other and the rest is history.”

And then it was again with music, at a New Years Eve edition of Falls Festival, that they became engaged. The pair decided there was no better way to celebrate than to capture something they love to share together, sunset picnics, with photographer Kim Akrigg in Byron Bay. That sunset light is absolutely magic as it glows golden and the relaxed vibes? Just the ticket for a Saturday of loving!

On what she loves about her future husband, Caitie remarks, “I love his outlook on life, his emotional intelligence, his honesty and his insistence on questioning everything.”

There was plenty of new year magic when Antman proposed, tells the bride to be. “It was very impromptu on New Year’s Eve at Falls Festival, we had a celebration kiss just after the countdown when Antman asked me. I think I was in a state of shock.
Flume was playing at the time. And Flume, if you’re reading this, you should play our wedding.”

“Our first new year’s, and the night we really fell in love, we were dressed up as King Neptune and Arial (also at a Falls Fest). We went all out. People would cheer out for Neptune and Aerial and we made friends with a bunch of sharks who became our protectors. The night ended in a pseudo-fight between another couple with the same fancy dress…they had no sharks to keep them safe so that was an easy challenge.”

Sunset and picnics are the best way for these two to unwind, so what better way to capture their engagement? Caitie explains, “A few beers and a picnic at sunset is pretty regular for us and we love nature outdoors. It just seemed natural to have this summed up in a shoot. Having such a natural environment also made the shoot really comfortable and easy.”

It was adventures that drew Antman to his love. He tells, “Caitie is my adventure partner. Gone are the days of calling up the lads to find someone for a surf or camping trip. She packs the Esky, I put the boards on the roof. Sorted!”
