If I had to choose one decor item for a wedding that I love, it’s candlelight. I love the glow of it, the atmosphere it creates and the sparkle it brings to an event. The dream team behind today’s editorial of moody, candlelight wedding inspiration completely agree. They wanted to create a look that echoed back to a couple who love all things classic,

At Sydney venueGardens on Forest, with photographer Angus Porter behind the camera (alongside Top Chois Productions who captured a film of the day) stylist Visually Creative created a shoot that honours the beauty of something a little different.

Our bride, Lucia Schurink dressed in stunning ballgowns designed  by Amarige Bridal with deeply toned, dramatic makeup styled by Michelle Cato and  metallic, intricate jewels by Maria Elena.

Of the team’s inspiration, Allison of Visually Creative explains “This shoot was inspired by a rich love of old-world elegance. Each one of these suppliers has a deep connection with old fashion traditions and a love for classic beauty with each of their style.  The idea of mood and depth of colours and emotion. The palette was inspired by fig, grape, grey, gold & burgundy tones.

The majority of weddings that we all currently design for clients are light and bright, which is always beautiful and classic. We felt we needed to break away from the usual and let other people fall in love with deep colours and old fashioned designs.”

The scene was set with guests invited by beautiful black invitations, tailored with gold calligraphy by  Written By Hand, the  deep floral arrangements by Visually Creative combined traditional jewel tones of marsala and raspberry red, with lighter pinks and yellows for unexpected depth. The black lace wedding cake by Sugar Pot. The grand table, surrounded by individual brass candlesticks, mercury class tealights and rose petals leading the way to a candlelight filled table, with metallic details, fit for an evening of pure glamour.
