Chris and Libbi played the part of princess and prince perfectly in their fairytale Woodlands of Marburg wedding. The heritage-listed mansion in Queensland in which they wed is fit for royalty and Libbi’s ‘Starling’ by Sophia Tolli ball gown, with its sweetheart neckline, took her prince’s breath away. All of the dreamy details were captured by Peppermint Photography and below, the bride Libbi shares the story of her wedding in her own words…

Libbi tells us how she met Chris… We went to school together, we both had crushes on each other but never made a move. Fast forward nearly a decade and we reconnected online over a love of fitness and hip hop. I knew he was the one when he came over one weekend and never left. We just slipped into forever naturally.

We got married in a beautiful, heritage-listed and historically rich, local mansion – Woodlands of Marburg – that I fell in love with on sight. I had never been there despite it being a well-known function site. We looked at another, but Woodlands was perfect for us. Local, classic and all-inclusive.

Libbi remembers the proposal… We had ice cream on the local bridge, the same thing we did for one of our first dates. He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I said ‘holy shit, are you serious?’ because I am the least classy person alive.

My dress is ‘Starling’ by Sophia Tolli. I bought it in New York and had it altered for my petite frame (took it up, took layers out.) I looked online extensively but knew this dress was the one when I put it on. I immediately felt like Belle from Beauty and the Beast.

My grandmother walked me down the aisle. She is an amazing, inspiring woman. If I grow to be half the woman she is, I will have succeeded in life. It was so important to me to have her by my side. I carried a wooden horseshoe she bought me from Scotland (her home country). I could not have been prouder.

Marriage means being safe enough to completely fall to pieces and have someone who patiently puts you back together every time. It’s mutual support. It also means I get to finish Chris’ meals for the rest of my life. All fries are fair game.

My photographer (Amanda from Peppermint Photography) captured everything so naturally. I love how my photos are a journal of the day, not a series of posed shots.

Ms Zigzag says: Every little detail of this fairytale wedding worked in sync together to create a romantic, classic celebration of love, from the tiered cake to Libbi’s breathtaking ball gown. We wish Chris and Libbi a happily ever after!
