The wedding suit is arguably the most complex decision a groom has to make in the lead up to the big day.
But with so many options, where does one start?
Obviously, Polka Dot Groom is the place to begin. But have you wandered over to our Instagram account for a bit more #weddinginspo?
Instagram continues to dominate the social media landscape (behind its big brother Facebook, of course).
Model and Instagram influencer Sam Wines says fellow fashionistas on the popular social media platform are perfect for those looking for inspiration.
“I draw inspiration from other men’s fashion enthusiasts on social media and then add my own personal twist,” Wines says.
“It’s all about someone’s personal style.
“There are plenty of Instagram accounts dedicated solely to weddings, they are great for a holistic approach.
“I would suggest scoping out a few men’s suiting accounts as well, such as @mensuitsteam and @menwithclass.”
So why should you head to Instagram over Facebook?
“Instagram is unique amongst the myriad of social media platforms out there,” Wines says.
“It is almost exclusively visual. Naturally then, Instagram is an invaluable tool that is utilised by countless people hunting for inspiration.”

Bespoke tailor Carl Navè understands the power of social media, especially in the world of weddings.
“Instagram has become such a prominent resource for weddings today,” he says.
“There are so many people posting their own wedding photos, which are of a very high standard, and it’s a really nice way to share in a complete strangers’ special day.
“It’s almost like people inviting you in on their wedding.”
Navè says he’s “a bit of a voyeur” when it comes to Instagram fashion.
“The people that tend to inspire me the most are other tailors and photographers, such as @chiaia_napoli, @fabioattanasio and @tagliatorreofficial.
“These guys are fairly well known Italian tailors and influencers and I love their contemporary take on old world tailoring.
“As for photographic inspiration, I love @gracepetrou and @aleksanderjason. They both have a great eye for detail and lighting and they work miracles with their cameras.”
Navè also said Wines was high on his list for fashion inspiration.
“I do a lot of work with @samwines_ and I love his style.
“Sam is a champion for educating younger guys on how to dress, he’s the new age gent.”
Fellow stylist Sally Mackinnon from Styled By Sally, described Instagram as a “great source of inspiration particularly for anything style related”.
“What I love about Instagram is the new feature to save your favourite looks and categorise them.
“This is ideal for wedding planners who can save anything from a favourite suit, accessories, shoes and wedding cars.
“[You can] also try searching specific hashtags like #groomstyle #weddingstyle for inspiration.”

About Mr Houndstooth: I am a happily married man. I enjoy a fine whisky, a new suit and swashbuckling around town with my beautiful bride. Looking back on my wedding day always makes me smile, even though it began to rain just as I said ‘I do’.
