Sami & Rehan

Picture this: it’s a beautiful Summer’s day and you have just married the love of your life. The sun is shining down as you mosey down a stunning river in a historic paddle steamer with your favourite people. Today’s elegant Mildura wedding, captured by Lucinda May Photography made the most of the beautiful Mildura landscape as a love story unfolded.

The bride chose a pale blue gown by Maggie Sottero. Telling, “My gown was a silver dress with ivory lace over the top, it looked like a dusty blue and had amazing detail on the dress and the train. I loved picking out my wedding dress with my bridesmaids, mother, grandmother and auntie.”

The couple chose Sacred Heart Catholic Church Mildura for their ceremony, the bride walking down the aisle to “At The Beginning” by Anastasia, a nod to the bride’s love of Disney movies.

Of their ceremony, Sami remembers “Our Ceremony was in the Catholic church and we wanted to be family oriented and feel loving as well as fun. Throughout the church booklet, we included a number of Dr Seuss quotes following through the theme from our wedding invitations.

Our favourite was “We are all a little weird and life’s a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love. – Dr Seuss.”

The couple chose a paddle steamer to take guests to the reception, Sami explaining “A very special part of our wedding was the paddle steamer cruise to the reception. We wanted to ensure the river was included in our day as we grew up on the river.”

Of their photographer, the bride remarks “Our photographer was Lucinda May Photography and she did an amazing job to capture the special moments our day. We love all our photos.”

A country reception was held at Jimba Estate, Sami noting “We chose the paddle steamer and Jimba Estate as we grew up on the Murray River and it was always my dream to get married on the river. We wanted an outside reception with a beautiful view and chose the marquee with a deck to ensure we were covered in case of any weather changes and had the correct lighting for dinner and dancing.”

Inspired by the groom’s love of succulents, The Wooden Door styled the floral arrangements and reception to be full of lush foliage and Australian natives.

“All of the photos were amazing. If I had to pick one favourite, I would choose one where we were laughing and quite casual as the sun set in the sunset photo.”

Of their first dance, the bride remembers “Our first dance was simple and we chose our favourite song ‘Somewhere over the rainbow/what a wonderful world’ by Israel Kamakawiwoʻole.”

Congratulations on your marriage Sami and Rehan! Thank you for sharing your beautiful day with us! Thank you also to Lucinda May Photography for sharing today’s celebration.
