Stav & Aaron
With hanging flowers, incredible music and incredible vendors, the glam Deckhouse Woolwich wedding of Stav and Aaron captured by gm photographics is a Sydney wedding that is full of all the trimmings – from cultural traditions, beautiful moments and a love story to behold.
Stav sets the scene with the story of how the couple came to be. “We met while completing our undergraduate course, Pharmacy at the University of Queensland. I’m from Sydney, Aaron’s from Brisbane. I moved interstate to study and we started a relationship during the first year of our degree.”
The groom and groomsmen dressed in classic black tuxedos from Calibre.
Stav worked with Steven Khalil to design her gown, which featured white lace over a nude underlay, noting “Steven was amazing to work with very receptive to my ideas and was able to create something unique that represented me.”
Stav and Aaron held their ceremony at St Gerasimos Greek Orthodox Church, Leichhardt
The couple married in a traditional Greek Orthodox ceremony, Stav noting “We provided guests with an order of services and description of what each part of the ceremony symbolised. Guests appreciated this as they were able to follow the ceremony and its meaning.”
The bridal party caught a boat to Cockatoo Island for photographs, Stav noting “The GM photographics team was amazing to work with. Very professional and made sure they captured all the important moments of the day. Michael provided great direction for each shot. We ended up with the most perfect collection of photographs that truly represented our wedding.”
“It was the most perfect day, with the most perfect weather. It had been raining all week, the day before was raining. Come Saturday morning – there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. There was a light breeze, it actually felt like a summer’s day. The perfect weather continued through the night. Sunday morning, though, there was pouring rain. We were so lucky!”
Stav and Aaron chose Deckhouse Woolwich for their reception, remarking “Deckhouse was the first and only venue we looked at in Sydney. We loved how secluded it was from the hustle and bustle of Sydney’s CDB, yet looked onto the beautiful skyline of Sydney.”
Waratah Florist created beautiful white floral arrangements for the day, Stav remarking “Anne and her team at Waratah florist, Earlwood went above and beyond for the day. Any requests we had she made it possible with ease and amazing attitude.”
Of their first dance, Stav remembers “The song we chose was Firestone by Conrad Sewell – the original version. We wanted something unique and a song we both loved very much. The words behind the song really represent us as a couple.”
DJ Dimitri Velen was a key part of the wedding night, Stav reminiscing “Music is an integral part of a Greek wedding. We made sure we hired a DJ we trusted and maintained a party vibe the whole way through the evening.”
Stav and Aaron chose Soda Films to capture this beautiful film of their wedding day.
