This year on Polka Dot Weddings, we swooned over glitter, glamour and gorgeous details; from city chic to rustic country charm, here’s the list of some of our favourite weddings from 2016.
1. Julia and Julian’s ‘Best Day Ever’ Buttercup Wedding
“Julian and I first got to know each other over waffles with ice cream and strawberries. It was our first date and I was in complete disbelief that such an amazing guy had walked into my life. He was a hardworking carpenter, he loved his family, he could play the piano, was learning French and he had the biggest, warmest smile that won me over straight away!”

2. Anna and Murray’s Rustic Mill Wedding
“We had so many DIY details! From the start, not only did I want to have our wedding in an impossible space, I also wanted to do all of the flowers and cakes myself.”

3. Angela and Joel’s Intimate Brisbane Wedding
“I knew then that no matter what we had to overcome to be here and no matter what we would face in the future, we could overcome everything because right at that moment I was about to marry the love of my life in our home town with our entire family around us watching and cheering us on and that’s all that mattered.”

4. Fanoula and Paul’s Elegant Winter City Wedding
“Paul and I met five years ago at a bar in Melbourne. Eight months after meeting each other we had planned a holiday to New York, LA and Las Vegas. We had the time of our lives and it was on that trip we knew one day we would marry each other.”

5. Annie and Tony’s Enchanting Woody End Wedding
“Tony and I had been high school sweethearts, back in the distant past of the early nineties – or noughties! It certainly hadn’t been for forever, but it meant that when time and circumstance put us back on the same path more than a decade later, it felt straight away like it was one for us to stay on together.”

6. Bethany and Nathanael’s Rustic Vintage Hinterland Wedding
“When I jokingly told my brother and his girlfriend that I wanted a husband for Christmas I did not expect to be walking down the aisle 18 months later! I will admit that I was slightly cynical about online dating but when I unwrapped a subscription to e-Harmony on Christmas morning I thought what have I got to lose! I signed up on Boxing Day and within a couple of hours Nat had sent me our first message!”

7. Nioka & Dyson’s Modern Roof Top Wedding
“It was so lovely to have the ceremony on the balcony during the sunset and the city lights at night were amazing. I also love old buildings and the balcony looked onto the back of the GPO roof which has a very French feel; it was the most perfect day!”

8. Emma and David’s Bohemian Chic Country Wedding
“Getting ready with my bridesmaids was so much fun. The champagne flowed and the music played; there was dancing and even some jumping on the bed!”

9. Kelly & Chris’ Rustic Vintage Wedding
“We held the ceremony on the lawn overlooking a creek with 90 of our family and closest friends. We had an ‘unplugged ceremony’ which of course means no phones/cameras or any other form of technology. We wanted our guests to be there in the moment with us and enjoy it.”

10. Marijana and Andrew’s Magical Flower-Filled Wedding
“I really wanted fresh flowers for our entire wedding. This included our centrepieces, church decorations, bridal party flowers for both men and ladies, our parents’ corsages and buttonholes, bridal table and of course, what I wanted the most – a beautiful hanging floral chandelier.”
