I love the simplicity of this elegant Western Australian winery wedding of Terri & Rhys captured by LiFe Photography. There is a simplicity to it with just the native bouquets, the white gowns and dresses that let the stunning setting and the love story of the newlyweds unfold.
Rhys proposed to Terri on holiday, the bride remembering “We both love the beach and Rhys is a keen surfer so we often have beach/surf destination holidays. We went to a small island in the Mentawai Islands (Indonesia) for a relaxing holiday filled with surfing, snorkelling, diving and sunsets…it was just amazing. One evening after a lovely dinner on the beach, Rhys surprised me by getting down on one knee and proposing! He put a shell ring on my finger and when we got back to Perth he replaced it with the most beautiful ring.”
Terri wore a gown with an illusion neckline by Karen Willis Holmes, explaining “My dress was from Karen Willis Holmes. I like to feel comfortable in what I am wearing and I found so many of Karen Willis Holmes’ dresses were not only comfortable but also unique and glamorous in an understated way. I loved my dress because it was beautiful and I could relax and just be myself. Wedding dress shopping was tricky because I am so indecisive! But overall it was a great experience and lots of fun shopping with my mum and sisters.”
Margaret Dawkins officiated the ceremony, the bride noting “I find it hard to pick a favourite moment because I truly loved it all. Walking down the aisle and seeing my family, friends and of course Rhys with a big smile on his face was amazing.”
Terri and Rhys chose Wise Winery for their wedding, noting “Wise Winery was a perfect match! We have always loved the South West coast of W.A. for its beaches, surf, wine, food and relaxing vibe/lifestyle. We spend as much time in the area as we can and we always knew we would get married there. Wise Winery was the perfect spot for us.”
“When we went off with our bridal party to have some photos after the ceremony, we were all in such a happy and silly mood. There are so many photos of us all laughing our heads off…I don’t think I could open my mouth any wider!”
Of their photographer, Terri remarks “Our amazing photographer Maz Pederson from LiFe Photography. The way Maz is able to capture the emotion and feeling of the day is unique. She was a calm presence, it felt like we had known her for years, we felt so comfortable around her. Maz even organised for our second photographer to join Rhys and his groomsmen for an early morning surf on the day – Rhys would not have started the day any other way so it was perfect to capture that moment. Our photos will always remind us of our perfect day.”
For the reception, Terri explains “We wanted a relaxed and natural atmosphere with rustic styling.” Each guest was welcomed with a fresh rosemary sprig to their place at the table.
“We didn’t have a particular theme but we love a relaxed and natural atmosphere. Mostly, we just went with the things we love…warm summer nights, good music and having a good party with our family and friends. We didn’t want a long sit down event, so instead, we had lawn games, stand up canapés, sit down mains and then following speeches we had everyone on the dance floor with espresso martinis. Dessert was an ice-cream cart in the courtyard outside for everyone to help themselves and enjoy the beautiful evening.”
Congratulations on your marriage Terri & Rhys! Thank you for sharing your day with us! Thank you also to LiFe Photography for sharing today’s celebration with us!
