Lanie & Andy
Oh I do love a wedding with colour, life and fun and this whimsical Aghadoe Estate wedding of Lanie and Andy is just that. Colourful streamers, beautiful bouquets – they just reflect a small portion of what made this day so very special. Lanie and Andy chose Hyggelig Photography to capture the fun of their wedding.
Lanie tells the story of how they came to be. “We met at work. Andy was a trainer of new staff in the organisation and I came along probably three years after Andy started. We were friends first and had several mutual friends so taking the next step to starting a relationship came quite easily to us.”
Lanie and her bridesmaids chose dresses from Big Day Dress, the bride noting, “I wanted a tea length dress and struggled to find anything I really loved in the stores but I found something online. I tend towards a 1950’s style and this dress was the perfect style without all the extras I wasn’t that fond of.”
Lanie and Andy were married at the beautiful Aghadoe Estate. Noting “We wanted the ceremony and reception at the one venue so guests were able to stay put and enjoy themselves. We had originally booked another venue, however they cancelled about 5 months before our wedding day, as they did not have the correct permits to hold weddings.
Needless to say it was quite stressful for us to find another venue at short notice, however Di and Daniel at Aghadoe Estate were amazing. Aghadoe was perfectly suited to what we wanted. It had several areas available at which we could have the outdoor ceremony and also a couple of options for undercover areas if we had wet weather. The reception was held in a classic style barn that had plenty of work completed on it just prior to the wedding so this could hold guests for the reception. We were the first couple to use the barn for the ceremony and it and the surrounding natural farmland and countryside completed the venue so well.”
“My bridesmaids walked down the aisle to Busby Marou’s ‘Biding my Time’, and I walked down the aisle to Xavier Rudd’s ‘Follow the Sun’. Andy picked Biding my Time and I picked Follow the Sun because it is a song that always reminds me of Andy and makes me happy.”
The couple were married by Claudia Cannon, the bride remembering ,”We wanted a laid back casual ceremony. One of my bridesmaid’s was our celebrant so she was able to make the ceremony exactly what we wanted (even when we didn’t know it ourselves) and she was able to make it incredibly personal.”
Pomp & Splendour styled floral arrangements of pinks and creams, Lanie telling, “I really wanted to have particular flowers – my Nan was very close to me but she died a while ago, so I wanted to have some of her favourite flowers in my bouquet and on the tables so she would be a part of the day for me. Petra from Pomp and Splendour was amazing. She knew exactly what I wanted and was able to accommodate my requests. What she produced was absolutely stunning, and even smelled divine, which reminded me of my Nan.”
Of their photographers, the bride remembers, “Janet and the second shooter Mandy from Hyggelig were just fabulous. She is one of my friends so I knew there would be no issues with letting her go to work and do what she needed to in order to have some amazing memories captured by her and they certainly didn’t let us down. She had driven to the area prior to the wedding to check out where some of the better areas for photos would be and we had such a good day for it. We were just blown away when the handed us the final package of photos, they were just brilliant. ”
The decor was handmade, the bride telling, “Myself and the bridesmaids made all the decorations for the day. This included some ribbons for the backdrop of the ceremony, bunting and balloon lanterns for the barn. We also made the bonbonnieres that was fig and vanilla jam with the figs from our tree at home. We also made fans with the wedding party and ceremony details and the invites.”
Guests enjoyed a feast thanks to Hudson’s Famous “Kate and the staff from Hudson’s Famous catering were just amazing. As we provided the alcohol and a few other bits and pieces it wasn’t a standard job for the catering staff. However she was there for us at every turn, sensing what the guests were after and involving herself where necessary to assist us greatly. The day would not have been what is was if not for Kate and Hudson’s staff. With the last minute venue change they went above and beyond to accommodate the changes and make everything run smoothly for us.”
The bride remembers, “Our first dance was to ‘Dream A Little Dream Of Me’ by Louis Armstrong & Ella Fitzgerald. I like vintage style music and we felt it captured us and the mood of the evening, something slow but uplifting at the same time.”
