Sam & Dan
To be able to combine tradition with your own style for your wedding creates a truly personal day for any couple, and this what exactly what Sam and Dan were able to do for their colourful summery Circa wedding. The couple decided they wanted to have a casual, warm feel about their day, and for their late afternoon ceremony to have a focus on their Jewish heritage. Sam and Dan chose Goldsmith & Co to capture their beautiful day.
Of how they came to be, Sam remembers, “Dan and I were both on a night out in Chapel Street with our respective friends. We had both frequented Hooha bar many times before but it was on a September night, five years ago, that we finally found each other. It was honestly love at first sight!”
Sam chose a stunning lace gown with fitted bodice and low back from One Day Bridal. “As soon as I put it on I knew it was the one. The style was exactly what I had been looking for,” she remembers. “The staff were fantastic in accommodating any changes I wanted to make to ensure my dress was unique. They were also able to make a custom veil tapered with lace matching my dress, which complimented my dress beautifully. I hope this will be a beautiful family heirloom I can pass down through the generations to come.”
Picking a venue is no easy feat, but as soon as Sam and Dan found the Deck at Circa, they knew it was the perfect location for both their ceremony and reception. The bride says, “The beautiful sunset and beach views from the deck were breathtaking. We decided to lean away from the more formal seated dinner. The ceremony began at 5pm followed by cocktails, music, finger foods, grazing tables and lots of dancing. We wanted something fun and laid back! The colour scheme reflected this with pops of peach, mint and gold. This was offset by beautiful white furniture from Dann Event Hire.”
“Kate Hill Flowers designed a beautiful cascade of flowers featured on our ‘chuppah’ (wedding canopy) which was used in our ceremony. It was truly breathtaking. I had had the opportunity to work with Kate Hill during my sister’s wedding and I couldn’t wait to use her for myself. She was able to bring my colour palette to life and the flowers were breathtaking, and were an aspect I was most excited about.”
“I had organised for our beautiful flower girl, my niece Milla, to have a basket full of rose petals to throw down the aisle, and as soon as she hit the aisle she broke into a sprint and there was not one rose petal that made in on the aisle. She managed to steal the show!”
For their ceremony music, Sam explains that they decided to focus on their Jewish heritage when selecting the music. A beautiful 3-piece band including guitar, cello and bongos created a wonderful Aramaic mix. “The Rabbi brought all the guests together by encouraging them to join in the singing of ancient songs and melodies,” she remembers fondly. ” It created a synergy between us and our loved ones, who were an integral part of our wedding.”
Bree at Santiago Sunbird worked with the bride to create a beautiful design that completed her vision for the stationery for their day.
“One thing I was adamant about was the inclusion of a dessert station. I had been dreaming of creating one, and I couldn’t wait to work with Treats for Evie as I had been admiring their sweets for years! Kathleen was able to create desserts that reflected our watercolour theme and the result was breathtaking.” Sam also worked with Poppies for Grace to create beautiful balloon installations and garlands, and she had the help of Tahli Englel from Comm Events and Elaine Toing from Style & Discourse to bring her vision to life.
Of choosing their photographer for their wedding, Sam explains, “Dan and I had organised meetings with a number of photographers but Jane and Brett Goldsmith, from Goldsmith & Co, were our first port of call. We met them on a Sunday morning in a busy café, and the moment we met them we knew they were the perfect fit. They were easy going, approachable and had a fantastic eye. We knew we had found the perfect couple to capture our special day!”
“Life always has obstacles to overcome, and as soon as I met Dan I knew I would be able to get through anything with him by my side. Our song truly reflects that – ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ by Jerry and the Pacemakers. Our first dance was very emotional and by the end of the first verse, gentle tears began to roll down my cheek. It had been a tough year leading up to the wedding, but in that moment I knew that Dan and I could get through anything together. I had truly found my soul mate.”
Their gorgeous wedding video was filmed by C2 Films. “Dan and I still get emotional when we watch the video and look through our photos!”
Congratulations Sam and Dan on your beautiful wedding! And thank you to Goldsmith & Co for sharing their day with us!
