Chloe & Dan
The beautiful Autumnal sunset of Sydney set the scene for today’s romantic Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel wedding. Bright pops of coral, watermelon and blue adding a sense of warmth to the day that was so very relaxed, beautiful and utterly Chloe and Dan. The newlyweds chose Damien Milan Photography to capture their wedding.
Chloe fills us in on how she and Dan came to be. “Dan and I met at his high school formal almost 12 years ago. Dan went with my best friend and I with one of his but after blessings from our dates and my persistence we started dating almost straight away.”
The bride chose a gown from Pallas Couture, noting, “It was the only second place I had visited. I went shopping for my dress almost immediately and had something completely different in mind but after trying this dress on I knew it was the one. It seems like such a cliché thing so say, but you really do know when you know.”
St Marks Church Darling Point was chosen for the ceremony. Chloe noting, “The church just around the corner from where we live so it was nice to be in our local area for such a special day. It’s also the church Muriel got married in, from Muriel’s Wedding, so of course, we had to get married there.”
For her walk down the aisle, Chloe remembers, “We chose the instrumental version of ‘Kissing You’ by Des’ree which features in Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo and Juliet. I had to take an extra few moments before walking down the aisle to compose myself. My Dad managed to snap me out of it and I made it down the aisle…. just about half down my hands froze up and my legs became like jelly. I was within an inch of fainting and then my sister ran down and walked the rest of the way with my Dad and me.”
Of the ceremony, Chloe remembers, “We had a fantastic Pastor named Paul to conduct the ceremony. He kept it light-hearted yet meaningful. We had a small group of friends who mixed up the days and thought we were getting married on Saturday, not the Friday. One of them was supposed to give a reading yet no one realised he was missing until his moment came to give the reading but thankfully Paul stepped in.”
Trille Floral styled the gorgeous floral arrangements for the day, the bride remembering, “The flowers by Cara at Trille Floral were out of this world. I changed my mind so many times and she was so accommodating and helpful with suggestions. The first time I cried getting ready was when Cara dropped off the bouquets and flower crowns for the junior bridesmaids. It was just perfect and it was the first moment I really felt like a bride. The reception set up was like a fairy tale and I couldn’t fault any of it.”
Of their photographer, Chloe tells, “Damien and Anastasia were great and very easy to work with. Dan and I were concerned about taking the couple shots but Damien and Anastasia made us feel very comfortable and were like friends. I am happy with everything we chose for the wedding but the photographs we received back blew us away and I would recommend them and have been to everyone. I cried and still do when I look through the photos. They captured so many amazing moments both small and big that we can cherish forever and I am very thankful.”
Chloe and Dan chose Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel for their reception, remarking, “The hotel is in such a beautiful location and I am so pleased with our decision to have it there. Watching the sunset go down on the top deck admiring the stunning Sydney skyline, whilst enjoying a few champagnes and some delicious canapés was one of the many highlights of the day. After the canapés, we moved to the sunset room which is where we had dinner and spent most of the evening. It is such a beautifully styled large space with plenty of areas a for the guests to mingle.”
The bride created the stationery herself, remarking, “I’m a textile designer so I painted and designed the wedding invites and all the stationery myself. It was one of the final major tasks I had to do and was probably the most enjoyable. I definitely took my time with them…probably a little too much time according to Dan and his spreadsheet but I am really happy with how they turned out.”
“We set out to have a wedding at a beautiful spot with beautiful food and with all the people that mean the most to us. This was the most important thing and I think we achieved that.”
Of the first dance, the bride got a big surprise, she remembers. “We chose ‘Unchained Melody’ for the wedding dance but unbeknownst to me Dan and my family were planning on having my younger sister Eve sing it. It was such a beautiful surprise when Dan announced that Eve would be singing the song in his speech and I broke down crying for the umpteenth time that day.”
Congratulations on your marriage Chloe and Dan! Thank you for sharing your day with us! Thank you also to Damien Milan Photography for sending today’s wedding our way!
