Sahra & Luke
Sahra and Luke’s romantic vintage Adelaide Hills makes the most of the sweet little wedding venue, the gorgeous backdrops Mother Nature puts on and a beautiful love story that unfolded throughout it all. The couple chose Love Fool Photography to capture the beautiful wedding in the South Australian countryside.
Sahra fills us in on how they met. “Luke was from Adelaide but his career took him to Perth where he met Sahra in a bar…Luke smiled at Sahra from across the room (but not in a creepy serial killer kinda way) and she smiled back. Luke asked to hold Sah’s hand…she said yes and they never let go.”
The bride chose Rapsimo for her gown, remarking, “My dress was custom made by the lovely and very talented Ann at Rapsimo in Adelaide, SA. I wanted a romantic style dress to suit an outdoor wedding and got inspiration for various designs on Pinterest. I wore a gorgeous pair of Italian lace heels which also came from Rapsimo. Ann stocks an exclusive range of Italian designer wedding shoes. For jewellery, I wore a pair of beautiful drop pearl earrings from Paspali Pearls which were lent to me by my mother-in-law. They belonged to her late sister and were also worn by Luke’s sister Alice on her wedding day.”
Sweet Adelaide Hills wedding venue The White House hosted their celebration. Sahra remembering, “It took us quite a while to choose our venue, we knew we wanted something a little different, something personal and intimate with a rustic feel. We looked at many wineries across SA but found most were too commercialised or some even a little too rustic. We wanted all the trimmings of a traditional wedding but with our own personal touch. The White House was our last stop and as soon as we stepped foot on the gorgeous 1858 property we knew instantly it was the spot for us! The owners Sophie and Sid are perfectionists at what they do, they really listened to the style and ideas of what we wanted for our wedding and did everything they could and more to deliver, and they did.”
Alice Haddy sang the bride down the aisle, “I walked down the aisle to Jason Mraz ‘I Won’t Give Up’. We knew it was the song the first time we heard it. We loved the acoustic intro which was perfect to walk down the aisle to and the words are just beautiful as well.”
Cecilia White officiated the ceremony, Sahra remarking, “Our ceremony was held under a beautiful big pear tree in the garden. Dream-catchers, lace bunting and hanging jars with flowers made the perfect backdrop for the ceremony. We wanted our ceremony to be relatively short to keep our guests engaged but emotional. We had an ‘unplugged’ ceremony so that all our guests could really be ‘in the moment’ with us. My brother and Luke’s sister both did readings which were very special.”
Of their photographer, Sahra notes, “The amazing and very talented Maddie from Love Fool Photography captured our day just perfectly. We looked at many photographers but Maddie’s photos stood out from all the rest!”
“All our stationery was made by a close family friend. She did everything from the Wedding invitations, seating plan, menus, Photo Booth props and even made our pretty little dream catchers! I decorated glass jars with lace and hand made coconut and lime soy candles as a wedding favour for the girls. I also decorated wooden picture frames with flowers for the photo booth and these were hung from the pear tree.”
Of the first dance, the bride remembers “Our first dance song was ‘Better Together’ by Jack Johnson. This was a song we always danced to around our living room when we first met and has always been the ‘motto’ of our relationship. It’s also a fun, slightly more upbeat song.”
“The fact that EVERY guest chose to stay overnight in Hahndorf made it special as it really gave the wedding a ‘holiday’ vibe. Sharing breakfast the next morning with all our guests and hearing them talk about what a lovely wedding it was and the memories they had of the day was really special.”
Sahra and Luke thank you for taking the time to share your stories! Thank you also to Love Fool Photography for sharing today’s wedding!
They’re probably the cutest and the most romantic couple. Perfect location for the special day, outstanding photography.. What I like most about the photographs is that they capture a moment that’s gone forever. I enjoyed your each shot. Congratulations.
Thankyou Vanessa, very sweet comments. It was such a beautiful day, and to top it off we are expecting our first bub in November 🙂
