Kate & Arron
Dancing under the moonlight is the epitome of romance and exactly the way Kate and Arron celebrated their beautiful Yallingup outdoor wedding. The sparkling stars were just the icing on their beautiful wedding cake, all captured beautifully by Merge Photography.
“We met playing mixed netball at university. Kate was a shy 18 year old who had the biggest crush on confident and handsome Arron. The rest is history.”
Kate found her gown at Hob Nob Bridal, remembering, “I was dreading the dress shopping experience and wanted it to be over as quickly as possible! The whole process is humiliating! It was made fun by having my bridesmaids, mum, aunty and nana come with me. I was thinking lace but it looked awful on me, much to my nana’s horror. I hate anything cliche so we knew from the beginning I wanted something a bit different and unexpected.
Then my best friend found this dress, and I tried it on and we all fell in love!! The hand beaded, high neck was beautiful and I felt so comfortable in it. We had to alter the sample dress as the line was discontinued a few days after we found it! Luckily the dressmaker at Hob Nob was phenomenal and did such an amazing job to make it fit me! ”
Kate and Arron were married at Erravilla Estate. Kate tells, “We knew we wanted an outdoor wedding and we loved down south. We came across Erravilla pretty randomly and loved that our bridal party and immediate family could all stay there together for the weekend. It had no curfew and we could do whatever we wanted basically so allowed us to chose all our vendors and style as we pleased. We also loved that our guests only had to get dropped off and picked up from one location, taking away that annoying lull during bridal photos. It felt like one big festival of love!”
Kate walked down the aisle to “Sweet Disposition” by Temper Trap.
Kate Hopkinson officiated the ceremony, the bride remembering, “It was simple and we cut out all the unnecessary rubbish. It was just about our love story and commitment to one another. We wrote our vows together as we wanted to vow to live our lives as husband and wife with the same ideals – that is respect, independence, honesty and love. Our celebrant helped us to create this ceremony. My aunty read “He’s not perfect, and neither are you” by Bob Marley. Arron’s sister read “The art of marriage” by Wilferd Paterson.”
Of their photographer, Kate remarks, “Jodie at Merge Photography was amazing. She knew that Arron & I were really awkward and hated having our photo taken so she just caught natural moments on the day which is what we wanted.”
Guests enjoyed dinner and dancing on the lawns with tipis from The Zest Group. “We just wanted to make sure we had a big party with all our loved ones and had the best day of our lives which it was! I organised a babysitter to look after the kids at the wedding so the parents could relax and enjoy. As well as a big bus so the usual DD could also party. And good music and a dance floor under the stars of course.”
For their first dance, the newlyweds chose “Dancing In The Moonlight” by Top Loader. Kate remembers, “It was perfect because we were literally dancing in the moonlight. It was fun but still romantic and we didn’t have to do the same old bridal waltz as we would never dance like that normally. It was real and us (basically that means me dancing around still and awkward Arron). We didn’t rehearse or anything, it was just in the moment.”
Congratulations on your marriage Kate and Arron! Thank you for sharing your beautiful memories with us! And thank you to the lovely Merge Photography for sharing today’s celebration!
