Annie & Scott
We love a dose of classic romance here at Polka Dot Bride and Annie and Scott’s classic romance wedding has all the beautiful moments and details to make magic happen. A beautiful setting, beautiful stories to tell and heartfelt details. They chose Magnus Agren to capture their wedding day.
Annie and Scott met so long ago they were practically toddlers! Annie remembers, “Scott and I met when we were four years old and attended the same preschool in Jamberoo. We lived on adjoining farms all of our lives but attended different schools so it was not until we were at University that we got to know each other and started dating.”
Annie chose a gown from Vera Wang, noting, “After always thinking I wanted to wear a simple straight dress once I started trying dresses on it became obvious that that style did not suit me. I visited Vera Wang and tried on the Octavia gown which is a ballgown with beautiful tulle skirt with a nude undertone. It was very feminine and made me feel like a princess so I knew immediately that I had found the dress.”
For her walk down the aisle, Annie chose, “The Wedding by Joaquin Prieto, which was the same hymn that my mother and sister walked down the aisle to when they were married. It was a sentimental choice and felt perfect on the day.”
Annie and Scott were married at St Matthews Catholic Church Jamberoo, Annie telling, “We chose to be married at St Matthews Catholic Church Jamberoo because it is our local church and somewhere that we had both always attended. We wanted the ceremony to be full of love and happiness and include as many people who are important in our lives as possible.
Family members were chosen to do the readings and Prayers of the Faithful. There is a reading which my great-aunt Janice had read at all of our family weddings. She passed away a few years ago so my nanna, her sister, read her reading which was so special. As my nanna read the words “love is always patient and kind…” I could hear Janice’s voice doing the reading and I felt her presence which was lovely.”
Of their photographer, Annie notes, “It was really important to us to have our wedding captured, however we did not want the photographer to be in the way, or make our guests feel uncomfortable. Magnus Agren was recommended to us by friends who had recently used him for their own wedding. From the minute we met Magnus we felt at ease and as if we were having a chat with a friend. He made us feel so comfortable all day and seemed to just blend into the day.
No matter what we asked of Magnus he was so obliging and was there from the beginning of the day until the very end, still with a smile on his face. Within a couple of days our blog was online allowing us to have a sneak peak of the photos and we were blown away by them. We could not have been happier with Magnus and would recommend him to anyone.”
Annie and Scott chose Jaspers, Berry for their reception, Annie explaining, “My sister held her reception at Terrara House and Scott and I loved everything about it so when we found out that Rosie Jennings had opened a new venue in Berry called Jaspers, we were hopeful we had found our spot. Jaspers had a different look and feel to Terrara House but the service, food quality and attention to the small details was all exactly the same making Jaspers the perfect option for us.
Rosie from Jaspers is a true professional. She has impeccable taste and assists with all aspects of the reception including arranging the flowers, the cake, the menu and many small touches that are unique to Jaspers. Her staff were also wonderful and so easy to deal with which made the day very relaxed.”
Guests signed a very sentimental kind of guest book, Annie telling, “Scott’s mum is an avid quilter and loves to make quilts to give to people. We wanted to include her in the day and also wanted a guest book that we could keep and treasure forever so decided to incorporate the two. Scott’s mum made beautiful quilt patches for the guests to write on. The patches were pegged to stand handmade by one of Scott’s groomsman and have since been sewn together to make a beautiful quilt that we have on our bed. It is such a beautiful keepsake from our wedding day and includes all the people we love. I hope I can pass it on to our children one day.”
“We did a few things ourselves as we wanted to have some personal touches. Scott and I made the Mass booklets, seating plan and place cards. And we are very lucky to have some creative, talented and generous friends and family who were kind enough to help us make a few other things such as the chalkboards and wedding signs for the ceremony and reception.”
Beth Downes styled the flowers for the day, the bride noting, “One thing I have always known I wanted at my wedding was lots of flowers. Our family friend Beth Downes did a fantastic job of covering the alter and dressing the aisle with cottage garden flowers ranging from beautiful ivory through to some darker tones of pink. Rosie at Jaspers did a magnificent job with the reception venue. From the moment guests walked into the Orangery they were greeted by the most beautiful flower table. I also got to use the bridal salon at Jaspers to get ready with my bridesmaids which allowed us to get our hair and makeup done together while having high tea and champagne. It’s also such a stunning room that I had photos taken there.”
Of the first dance, Annie remembers, “Our first dance was to ‘Someone Like You’ by Van Morrison. Before the big day I was worried about our first dance as I am a very shy person so I didn’t want too much attention on me but as the music began to play it felt like Scott and I were the only two people in the room.”
The delightful end to the day was a wedding film captured by Tom Coburn. The film captures the joy, romance and moments of the day in all of their glory.
Congratulations Annie and Scott! Thank you for sharing the stories of your day with us! Thank you also to Magnus Agren for sharing today’s wedding!
Love the silverware, the details are gorgeous. And the pink bridesmaid dresses look lovely, kinda like flowers.
