Amy & Ben
Amy and Ben chose Autumn for their National Arboretum wedding, the peace and tones of the season added a special kind of beauty to the day – along with a special appearance by Amy and Ben’s daughter Avery who made herself the star of the show! They chose Emma Hampton Photography to capture their day.
Amy tells the story of how they came to be. “Ben was posted to Darwin for work for 6 months, and I came up to conduct training for 6 weeks. By the end of the 6 weeks, Ben had decided he was packing up and moving to Canberra. It was a whirlwind romance! ”
“I wore my Great-Grandmother’s engagement ring and Ben’s Grandmother’s earrings as special reminders of those who could not join us on our special day. As it was Easter Saturday, our daughter Avery wore a pair of “bunny” shoes from MiniMelissa.”
Amy chose the Maggie Sottero (Melanie) Dress found at Brides of Manuka with Christian Louboutin shoes. Of her dress, Amy says, “The dress was lace, lace and more lace! I only tried on 3 dresses before I found “the one”. The experience was, just like the theme for the wedding, relaxed and fun.”
Amy and Ben chose Margaret Whitlam Pavilion, National Arboretum Canberra for their marriage ceremony, noting, “The Margaret Whitlam Pavilion at the National Arboretum was the only option for us. The stunning architecture and views over Canberra drew us to the ceremony venue, along with the notion that over the years as the Arboretum grows and establishes, we will have a physical reminder of how far we have grown as a family.”
Amy hand wrote a blackboard greeting sign welcoming people to the ceremony.
Amy walked down the aisle to “Real Love” by Regina Spektor.
Judy Aulich officiated the ceremony, Amy telling, “We wanted the ceremony to be short, relaxed and full of love. The best part was our daughter Avery running around playing peekaboo behind the flower arrangements!”
“It was such a great day, it’s hard to pin point any particular moment! Having both families and many friends travel from interstate to join in on the special occasion meant so much to us. It was lovely to see everyone at the reception get into the spirit of the day and let their hair down.”
Of their photographer, Amy says, “Emma was exactly what we wanted for the day, relaxed and fun. She was able to capture the day without being “in the way” and made everyone at ease through the process. Emma helped to achieve the look and feel that we were going for and the photos capture that perfectly.”
Ashlee Lauren Designs created the floral arrangements for the day.
To continue with the relaxed feeling of their day, Amy and Ben chose The Treehouse Bar for their reception, noting, “The Treehouse Bar was chosen as a reception venue due to it’s location, laid-back vibe and beautiful interior styling.”
Amy handmade the bomboniere (sugar cookies with special messages stamped in each) with her mum and sister.
Congratulations Amy and Ben! Thank you for sharing your Canberra wedding day with us! Thank you also to Emma Hampton Photography for sharing today’s wedding!
