Anna & Brendan
I love the feeling of Anna and Brendan’s fun art gallery wedding. These two didn’t take themselves too seriously (their must see first dance is complete evidence of that!) choosing a beautiful art gallery for their ceremony before heading to a Richmond brewery to celebrate with their favourite people. Todd Hunter McGaw was there to capture it all.
Brendan tells, “We met at the Randwick races. There’s no special story except for the 2am souvlaki in Kings Cross.”
Brendan chose a suit from Zegna, the groomsmen dressed in their own suits.
Anna wore a lace gown by Luci Di Bella.
Anna’s bridesmaids wore different navy blue dresses.
Sophie Gannon Gallery was chosen by the couple for their ceremony, Brendan telling, “The art gallery is a bright, compact space with a ready-made aisle. The gallery staff arranged for artwork to be hung that suited our taste and we had drinks on arrival to combat the heat.”
Anna walked down the aisle to “Hallelujah I Love Her So” by Ray Charles. Two members of the bridal party – Tilly Anderson (saxophone) and best man Nick Gill (guitar) accompanied Mim Zaetta-Thomas and her band.
Deborah Cannon performed the ceremony.
Of their photographers, Anna and Brendan note, “We have a mild couple crush on Todd and Alyda. They were the most laid back guests at our wedding, with the most responsibility… apart from us.”
Emma and Brendan chose Mountain Goat Brewery for their wedding reception, remarking, “The brewery is a cavernous brick warehouse, which needed little decoration on account of its character. When dusk descended, the fairy lights brought the place to life.”
The couple chose a unique place card idea, the groom remembering, “We used photos rather than name cards to identify people’s seats on the tables. We compiled the photos over a few weeks in the lead up to the wedding, using our collection and occasionally dipping into Facebook to fill some gaps. The photos brought back some memories and the guests seemed to love it. For a couple sorely lacking decorative creativity, we were pretty proud of that.”
Panache created the floral arrangements for the day.
Guests enjoyed a meal served family style catered by Fred and Ginger. Brendan noting, “Emma from Fred and Ginger did a fantastic job with the food. They were the stand-out vendor, along with Todd and Alyda, and the two venues.”
For their first dance, Anna and Brenda did a choreographed number to Bonnie Tyler’s “Total Eclipse Of The Heart” explaining, “We choreographed some ridiculous moves to Bonnie Tyler’s, Total Eclipse of the Heart. The photos probably do it more justice than words. Todd and Alyda were pretty stoked with a couple of their shots (as were we). To be honest, the whole dance was a bit of a piss-take; the drag at the end being the best illustration.”
The dance floor was a highlight of the night, and the groom’s favourite story? “The sight of 50 people on their haunches during Daft Punk’s One More Time, waiting to jump up in the air when bridge ended.”
Congratulations Anna and Brendan! Thank you for taking the time to tell your story! Thank you also to Todd Hunter McGaw for sharing today’s wedding with us!
