Elle & Rory
There are no other words than to describe this celebration other than a romantic country wedding. Elle & Rory married on Elle’s parents farm and danced with their guests under lights and stars. The sweet watercolour details, flowers in pretty, romantic hues and homemade mojito bar? That’s the kind of wedding I’d like to crash! They chose Natalija Brunovs from ‘i heart weddings’ to capture it all.
Elle remembers the story of how they came to be. “We met as kids as I was friends with his sister and we went to the same school. We didn’t get together until we had finished school and I came back to live in our home town. We were out on the town when we caught each other’s eye. I knew he was special from the start.”
Bec from bmcgregor designs started off the celebration with watercolour wedding invitations, the bride telling, “The invites were made by my cousin who has a home invite business.”
Elle remembers, “One of Rory’s best friends had passed away a few years ago and holds a very special place in his heart, so to acknowledge his presence we had his picture and a candle burning in the room while we got ready.
Elle and Rory chose Elle’s parent’s property for the wedding, remarking, “My parent’s riverside property held a very special place in my heart as I grew up here. We live on the property also and it is such a piece of paradise! It felt like home being married there. We had the ceremony and the reception on the property, which I think worked well as guests didn’t have to travel or wait around during photo time. Our photo locations were also mostly on the property which enabled us to have more precious time with our loved ones.”
Many of the guests – including the groom and groomsmen arrived by boat!
Elle walked down the aisle to ‘Requiem on Water’ by Imperial Mammoth.
Elle remarks, “My beautiful bridesmaid Jaymie sung a very special song for us at the ceremony accompanied by a very good friend Cam on the guitar. This will always be a very special detail included in the day.”
Of their photographer, Elle notes, “Nat from ‘I Heart Weddings’ was incredible. A friend had recommended her and we are so glad we chose her. Nat was relaxed, fun and made us feel very comfortable. We had specifically wanted a photographer that wasn’t in everybody’s faces and Nat took this on board, I think her style of photography suited what we wanted perfectly! The photos came out amazing! We can’t choose which ones to frame as there are too many we love! Nat was professional from start to finish. We still keep in contact with her and I would not hesitate to use her again or recommend her highly to others!”
“The signs were all hand written and hand cut. We made all the chalkboards ourselves too. The fans for the guests during the ceremony were all hand stamped, the confetti cones were hand rolled, the bars and dessert table were made using recycled timber from my dad’s shed. The boys made the lounge area using hay bales covered in fabric. In the end quite a lot of our wedding was DIY! ”
Elle and Rory put a lot of thought into their decorating, Elle noting, “We had photos of our parents and grandparents at their weddings on display. This turned out really well and I noticed a lot of people admiring them!”
As a special treat for the guests Rory made a “Mojito Bar”. Annette from Sandalwood Cafe and Catering creating a feast for guests to enjoy.
“The ‘come away with us’ swing covered in flowers was one of my favourite details. It was exactly as I had pictured and it made the reception unique.”
Elle tells, “My lovely Aunty made biscotti for the dessert table which was actually forgotten on the night but has been enjoyed in the months afterwards! We couldn’t have had the night run so smoothly without a good friend Narelle there to make sure things were happening as they should. This allowed my parents to relax during the night and enjoy the moment.”
Elle remembers, “We snuck off to have a few minutes of alone time during the reception and to stand back and look at the party going on around us! It was so nice to have these moments to really take in all the hard work and all the love we were feeling from the people around us!”
The newlweds danced under a glittering chandelier, the bride remembering “We were very nervous about the first dance and wanted to get it over with, but ended up surprisingly loving every minute of it! It was so special to have that moment together reminiscing about things so far and being alone for a few moments. We danced to ‘See Beneath Your Beautiful’ and now every time I hear it I smile. We have danced around to it at home ever since!” The bride’s mother made a naked chocolate wedding cake.
Congratulations on your marriage Elle & Rory! Thank you for sharing your day with us! Thank you also to Natalija Brunovs from ‘i heart weddings’ for sharing today’s wedding!
Such a beautiful wedding!
