Marie & Lee
Nothing says ‘Australian beach celebration’ like a relaxed surf club wedding and this gorgeous day of Marie & Lee captured by Bird and Boy Photography has the softest of mint green colour palettes, plenty of fresh flowers, a guest appearance by a kombi van and of course, plenty of Australian sunshine!
Marie tells the tale of how they met. “Lee’s best mate’s girlfriend worked with me – also Lee was a member at the gym I work at and a patient at the physio I also worked at part time. We kept crossing paths.”
The bridal party traveled in a kombi van from Vintage Wagen.
Currumbin Vikings Surf Club hosted the wedding, with the bride telling, “We had our ceremony as well as the reception at the Currumbin Vikings Surf Club. We went with an indoor ceremony to take the stress away of the weather uncertainty instead of being on the beach. It turned out to be an amazing backdrop for the ceremony as well as a comfortable option for our guests. Having the ceremony and reception at the one venue saved us a lot of time normally wasted when traveling to different venues.”
Marie walked down the aisle to John Legend – All Of Me.
Marie chose a gown from Grace Loves Lace. Her bridesmaids in mint green gowns from Forever New.
The couple made sure their children were involved in the day, noting, “Our kids stole the show. This is what we wanted as our main focus was to include them as much as possible and make our day about them too. This started with gifts for them prior to the ceremony, vows specifically for them, sand ceremony uniting the family and most importantly the giving of the rings.”
Of their photographers, Marie remarks, “We used Bird and Boy and from the first time we met, both Lee and I were so confident in the abilities of Madison and Jerome. They made us feel very comfortable and understood the direction we wanted to take on the day. We felt that they did an amazing job of capturing the moment and detail of the day as well as taking the more traditional formal portraits. The results speak for themselves.”
Reception celebrations were held in the Currumbin Vikings Surf Club. Marie remarking, “We chose a cocktail style wedding and this proved to be the best all round venue option suiting our theme and number of guests. The staff were so professional and accommodating from start to finish. The comments from our guests included “amazing backdrop”, “awesome food”, “sensational sunset” and “just perfect”. We couldn’t agree more.”
Marie tells, “Our biggest project was our Polaroid photo frame which we filled on the night with Polaroid cameras on hand. We also created our own personalised guest book, sand ceremony glass bottles, lettering, anchors etc. Lee even decorated the cake on the day.”
Marie tells, “The theme of anchors was used through out the wedding from the hand stamped invitations to décor and to the bridal party accessories/jewellery. The colours of blue/green blends were important as these are our favourite colours and fitted well with our nautical theme and setting. The perfect blend with the nautical theme for us was rustic with our garden setting photos, bridal party flowers, kombi, the wedding cake and most importantly the wedding dress and bride.”
