Brightly coloured blooms, sherbet coloured styling and a sunset that is nothing short of magic set the scene for Shannah and Jason’s colourful Byron Bay wedding captured by The Obsession Collection.
Shannah tells their story. “Jase & I actually went to high school together, but it was years later that we re-connected with each other after a night out with mutual friends and we are so happy we did.”
There was plenty of DIY, starting with the stationery! Shannah tells, “I styled and planned our wedding remotely from up in Gladstone where we are living at the moment for work. There were many, many emails and hundreds of hours clocked up searching for the perfect elements on the internet. I also created our wedding logo, designed made and sent our invitations and wedding stationery. Jase made his own beef jerky to go into our little handmade kraft paper favor bags for our guests and he also made the personalised tree swing by hand two days before our wedding day.”
Shannah chose a lace gown by Wendy Makin . Her bridesmaids in coral and pink gowns from The Bridal Company.
Shannah and Jason chose Horizon, Byron Bay as their wedding venue, explaining, “Horizon was our only venue. We arranged a private charter bus to collect all of our guests and drop them home again after the reception. We had an outdoor ceremony on the deck and a canapé reception in the pool area. We used the living room for the photo booth, guestbook and wishing tree and dancing, and dessert happened in the lounge area. This gave our guests lots of different areas to enjoy and retreat to.”
Shannah tells ” We had some large foam letters cut into our initials to decorate the space. They looked amazing against the beautiful view of Cape Byron.”
For the processional, Shannah remembers, “I walked down the aisle to an acoustic version of Bryan Adams’ – I’ll always be right there performed by Josh Boots Duo “.
Arrangements of brightly coloured poppies were created by The French Petal . Shannah remembering, “I loved the flowers! They were so bright and cheery that they decorated the venue amazingly.”
Of their photographer, Shannah tells, “Every time we look back over our stunning photos, we know that our day just wouldn’t have been what it was without our amazing photographer, Chantelle Lightbody from The Obsession Collection. Chantelle is a talented photographer, she listens, is very intuitive and is completely passionate and cares about her work. Her presence throughout the day was warm, supportive, calm and completely considerate. She was easy to work with and calming on the day. If I could have my wedding day a thousand times over, I would always choose to work with them every single time.”
Rebellyous Cake Co created a delicious cake topped with sugar poppies. Shannah tells, “When it came time to cut our wedding cake we actually struggled a little to get the knife through! We had to wiggle back and forth due to having so many different layers of cake and ganache on the inside. I don’t think our guests noticed too much as there was music playing so we just danced around a bit.”
Shannah tells, “We had our first dance to Bryan McKnight’s – Back at one. It was mushy one but we had lots of fun dancing to it as Jase and I know all the words and sung them to each other. We pretended that we knew how to slow dance and tried not to step on each other and my dress!”
Congratulations on your marriage Shannah and Jason! Thank you for sharing your story with us! Thank you also to The Obsession Collection for sharing today’s wedding!
