Oh September, your on again off again Spring weather is driving me a little crazy! Mr Polka and I have been busy shopping up a storm for a few upcoming weddings we’re off to soon. It’s wedding year for us with plenty of our loved ones tying the knot (which makes for a very happy Ms Polka!)
Before we kick off our own week of happy wedding inspiration it’s time to highlight, spotlight and show off the members of Ms Polka Dot’s Directory are. We have Venues, we have Bridal Gowns, we have Celebrants, we even have Transport! We work really hard to get vendors on board who are lovely – the kind who get excited about your plans and share a glass of champagne (or cider) with you while poring over them all!
Check out Ms Polka Dot’s Directory for wedding vendors who will love your wedding as much as you!
I freaking love cake but I was never a big wedding cake person until I started getting birthday cakes made for Polka Dot Bride. This year, we were lucky enough to taste the work of Miss Ladybird Cakes! You can check out our amazing birthday cake here! It was vanilla sponge with raspberry and white chocolate filling and oh my gosh as someone still eating it (we froze a few pieces) I am a wedding cake convert!
So I’m a bit tickled pink that Miss Ladybird Cakes is our vendor of the week! Not only does she have the sweetest shopfront where you can have tea and cake and even celebrate with an afternoon with your favourite people but she is an amazing and imaginative wedding cake creator! From the tasting (with bubbles or tea) to designing the cake of your dreams with a delicious flavour to boot, to making it look amazing, and delivering it. Every step is fun, delicious and buttercreamy good!
We asked Gina of Miss Ladybird Cakes five questions in five minutes –
What is your favourite after five drink?
I love a nice cold beer, doesn’t sound so fancy! But a beautiful Czech pilsener is one of my favourite things!
Your favourite weekend getaway?
My husband took me to Healesville for our 1 year anniversary and it was beautiful. Local wineries to visit, beautiful restaurants, some of the best food I have eaten. The trees lining the roads were red and orange and it reminded me a lot of my country life back in New Zealand.
Favourite restaurant?
Movida Next Door. There is always something new to try, and I love the act of sharing food. Its dark, cosy, noisy and delicious!
What can we find you eating for breakfast on a Sunday morning?
Vegemite toast.
Your favourite wedding story?
When I was about 18, 2 elderly family friends of ours Anne and Alan, both who had been married and their partners had passed away. They were such good friends, and so got married at the age of 70 to look after each other. Anne took care of Alan through to his last days. She is the funniest most hilarious person with so much attitude its incredible. A true inspiration.
