Kate & Mike
Kate and Mike chose one beautiful venue (Caves House, Yallingup) for their relaxed Western Australian wedding. Setting the scene, they invited guests to join them for the weekend. The casual feel of the celebrations led to a friendly warmth for each moment of the ceremony, all captured by Nicolle Versteeg Photography.
Kate tells how she and Mike came to be. “Mike and I met at our old workplace the Australian Institute of Fitness. Mike would train in the gym and ask me to join in. He is an energiser bunny. His enthusiasm for living life to its fullest had me inspired and motivated to become a personal trainer. Being active plays a big part in our lives. Our wedding invites were influenced by this playful side.”
Kate chose a gown by Donna Tobin Couture with her bridesmaids in different pale pink gowns.
Kate and Mike chose Caves House, Yallingup for their wedding celebrations, explaining, “Mike and I loved the idea of having a wedding getaway for everyone to enjoy and spend time together over the whole weekend. We were recommended Caves House by a couple of friends. We organised a quick trip down south to check out the venue. We didn’t have to visit anywhere else, the gardens were beautiful and the beach is a 10 minute walk away. There were a few dates available – 14.12.2013 sounded perfect. Our friends and family arrived the night before the wedding – it was great to spend that time with everyone. The Ceremony was held on the Emily Rose Terrace which was a beautiful backdrop. After the ceremony the guests had canapés and champagne on the verandah of Caves House which led into the formal dining room. The day after the wedding we organised a bus to take everyone to a local brewery to continue the festivities, it was a great weekend.”
Kate walked down the aisle to, “An acoustic version of “Here Comes The Sun” by George Harrison played by a friend.”
Diane Moore performed the marriage ceremony.
Of their photographer, Kate tells, “We loved Nicolle as soon as we met her. She has a very kind and down to earth nature. Her ability to understand our personalities and visualise the day was something else. Natural and general kindness along with amazing talent has made Nicolle who she is today, an amazing artist. We loved getting our wedding album because it was a really natural representation of how the day went, there was nothing corny or cheesy about it which is exactly what we wanted.”
Mitchell & Dent styled whimsical inspired stationery for Kate and Mike. Kate explaining, ” Mitchell & Dent are to thank for our creative stationery and they were lovely to work with. I came across their store one day and fell in love with them instantly.”
The tables played into the beachside theme, Kate remarking, “Our tables were named after beach locations we love and have special memories from. Our wedding favours were made by my sister. She is a great cook and made raspberry and strawberry jam. She had them bottled in cute jars with personalised labels. ” Zest Flowers created the floral arrangements for the day.
Celebration Cupcakes created a cupcake tower wedding cake.
The first dance was played by Mike’s dad, Kate remembering, “The song for our first dance was played by Mike’s dad on the piano. He played “Love Is In The Air” perfectly as Mike and I winged our dance moves.”
Congratulations on your marriage Kate and Mike! Thank you for sharing your story with us, thank you also to Nicolle Versteeg Photography for sharing your day with us.
