I love a wonderful wedding stylist and our vendor of the week this week Make Your Day Wedding Styling falls right into that category! Owner Amelia is all about the whimsical, the fun and the creative! Her little store in Brunswick is packed to the brim with little treats to add a little extra charm to your wedding day and her services? Well Amelia offers everything from DIY products to purchase, set up, lighting and hire, to little touches like sweets and drinks stations, stationery set up and even sourcing to make sure you find the right pieces for your day.
We asked Amelia from Make Your Day Wedding Styling five questions in five minutes –
What is your favourite after five drink?
Always a cocktail. I’m particularly partial to anything with passionfruit, rose or vanilla, yum!
Your favourite weekend getaway?
Point Lonsdale on the Bellarine Peninsula, I have been going there since I was a kid. Love spending a day wandering the cute shops, rustic cafes and I have even been known to visit the waterslide park as an adult!
Favourite restaurant?
Rita’s cafeteria in Abbotsford. The pumpkin gnocchi with burnt butter and sage sauce is a favourite. I also always get the giant nutella calzone for dessert.
What can we find you eating for breakfast on a Sunday morning?
I’m usually at the shop on Sundays unpacking from the previous day’s wedding. A takeaway mocha and a halumi slider from the café across the road is my usual.
Your favourite wedding story?
Has to be the very first wedding I styled. The couple were on a strict budget but desperate to do something different and special to celebrate with their friends and family. They came into the store and spoke to me about an idea they had for a little garden party in the Treasury Gardens so they could celebrate their marriage after the ceremony. I helped them pick out some cute decor from the store and suggested we set up a vintage style beverage stand with raspberry rose soda and traditional lemonade. Add in some gorgeous flowers, macarons and a couple of picnic blankets and it was a guest’s delight. It reinforced my idea that a wedding doesn’t need to be expensive or swanky to be memorable, it just needs to be thoughtful and fun.
