When I spotted these black jewelled rings from Australia jewellery designer Jan Logan I thought how incredible they would be as engagement rings. The ring above (The La Rambla ring from the Barcelona 2014 collection inspired by hot nights when the city comes alive) sets a large black onyx stone surrounded with black diamonds in yellow gold and looks like a show stopping personal piece.
Black engagement rings are such a modern unique take on the engagement ring and as with everything Jan Logan, are pure sophistication with an unexpected edge.
Engagement rings with quality workmanship are somewhat of signature of Jan Logan. The designer offers pieces that are available “off the shelf” or the team will work with couples to design something completely individual, sourcing stones or working with stones you have already purchased to create exactly what you want.
Of course if black is not your style, Jan Logan does some incredible coloured gemstone rings that would make a beautiful choice for an engagement piece. Using every coloured stone you could imagine – sapphires, amethysts, aquamarines, rubelites, morganite or even diamonds in your choice of colour. Setting the rings off with white diamond halos or a simple setting to let the chosen gemstone really stand out.
If you’re still somewhat of a traditionalist then the classic white diamond designs are something Jan Logan excels at. From simple, traditional princess cut stones on a plain band, to an art deco inspired piece with depth and layers of different cuts to finally, more modern pieces – simple bands, a setting that is clean lined and bold. Always sophisticated with something unexpected.
