Mientze and Ben

The gorgeous Dunbar House wedding of Mientze and Ben captured beautifully by Snippets Photography was a battle between the wind and rain, leading Mientze to have her dream of an indoor ceremony! What a romantic, special day filled with love, tradition and stunning venue.

Mientze tells their story. “We met through my sister while attending a night session. My sister who was friends with Ben almost 10 years ago recently reunited. Ben met my family in the past but I was the only one who had never met him until the night at the conference. Several months later, we struck up a conversation on Facebook and we chatted on Facebook for 7 hours straight until about 5am in the morning and Ben called me the day after and that’s we were started our journey of dating for 4.5 years before we got married. We soon found out that we are at a mutual friend’s wedding a few years ago and a friend wanted to introduced me to Ben but I refused. Unbeknown to my sister, she also tried to introduced me to Ben years ago.”

Ruffles & Bells planned the wedding, with flowers purchased from the markets and arranged by family and friends.

Mientze and Ben chose Dunbar House for their wedding, marrying in the Missoni Room and holding their reception in the main dining room.

Mientze remembers some of her favourite parts of the day. “A friend of mine got me a hotel room the day before the wedding as a gift and on the day, the bridesmaids and I had a massive all-you-can-eat breakfast. My little flower girl was sick with fever and very unwell but insisted that she was going to finish her job by marching the bridal party into the ceremony.”

Mientze walked down the aisle to “Love Came Down by Brian Johnson and Jeremy Riddle, performed by friends Luke and Corey.”

“A tea ceremony was also held after our ceremony to pay respect to the Chinese tradition, especially to the elders. Red packets were also handed out to guests which is also another Chinese tradition we included.”

Mientze wore a gown by Kristie Slater while Ben wore a suit from Peter Jackson.

Of their photographer, Mientze says, “Fiona from Snippets Photography was amazing, we’d love to give her lots of kudos.”

“Instead of using table numbers, my fiance designed table menus with name of places we’ve traveled to together. ” Plenty of the wedding was DIY with the dessert table filled with homemade creations by family and friends.

Jazz Nouveau entertained guests and got them on the dance floor.

Mientze remarks, “I loved that family and friends took a day off from their commitments or work to join us.”

Congratulations on your marriage Mientze and Ben! Thank you for sharing your story with us! Thank you to Snippets Photography for sharing today’s wedding.
