Emily & Greg
An autumn wedding in a cherry tree orchard. Can we start the story with my exclamation at how perfect that is? As someone who literally hangs out for cherry season and then proceeds to purchase boxes at a time? How wonderful to marry amongst the trees laden with the sweet gems! Briars Atlas captured Emily and Greg’s wedding amongst the cherry trees on a private property near Benalla. Emily describing the wedding as “A super fun cherry orchard wedding “.
Emily chose a V neck wedding gown designed by Val Stefani for Moonlight Bridal from Brides Of Melbourne.
Emily walked down the aisle to ‘There’s No Such Place’ by Augie March.
The couple married on a private farm near Benalla. Emily remarking, “Our ceremony and reception were located on Greg’s cousin’s property, a cherry orchard just outside of Benalla. A stunning location with the leaves of the cherry trees just starting to show their autumn colours. Our ceremony was held in the garden and the reception was in a large marquee in the middle of the orchard with the rows of cherry trees on either side.”
Emily and Greg payed homage to their bridal party during their ceremony, Emily recalling, “Greg and I wrote a few words about each member of the bridal party which the celebrant read out during the ceremony. This was a very special moment because it gave us an opportunity to acknowledge these people and share why we had chosen them to stand up there with us on the day. It also made the ceremony more personal and a celebration of not only our relationship but the relationships we share with our friends and family.”
Emily’s bridesmaids wore black gowns of their own choosing. She recalls “It was great to see their different personalities coming out in what they chose.”
Of their photographer, Emily says, “Oli Sansom is a wedding and portrait photographer working out of Melbourne. He is relaxed and down to earth by nature making it easy to communicate to him what we wanted to capture on our special day. His photos tell a story jogging memories of the smaller details that tend you pass you by. We didn’t want posed photographs but ones that captured emotions and relationships, and they certainly exceeded our expectations, they were just beautiful. He created a slideshow using the music from our ceremony which he sent through to us two days later, a lovely preview of the whole package of photos that were still to come.”
The wedding was decorated in bright colours – shades of red, white and yellow.”We wanted a very happy and colourful look to our decorations, and ended up choosing the primary colours as our colour theme. We then ordered bunting flags in these colours, and built up the marquee decorations around them. Greg and I are lucky to have some very talented creative friends who helped bring the day together.”
“Our bridesmaid Emily was responsible for the floral design and did a spectacular job.”
Guests enjoyed a BBQ dinner from Senor BBQ, Argentinian BBQ Catering.
Our their first dance, Emily remembers, “Our first dance was to the Old Crow Medicine Show version of “Wagon Wheel”. Greg and I danced to this song the night we got engaged and so it felt like the right song choice for us. We danced alone for the first verse and invited guests to join us during the song, I have lovely memories of a very crowded happy dance floor.”
Greg, a musician plays in two bands – Luke Legs and The Toot Toot Toots – both bands performed at the wedding, keeping guests on the dance floor!
Congratulations on your marriage Emily and Greg! Thank you for sharing your day. Thank you Briars Atlas for sharing today’s wedding with us!
