It’s Polka Dot Sneak Peek! Share your peaks at your wedding with fear of boring anyone (because I am all over THAT!)
Today I want to know – are you having a cinematographer? Who? How did you find them? Did you watch a ton of their films before you booked them? I have my tea ready and I’d love to hear!
Oh, brides-to-be, I can’t make the case for videographers strongly enough! We had our recent wedding captured by C2 Video and I’m so glad we did. Not only is it a living record of our wedding day, it is a cinematic artwork. What the team at C2 can do with cameras is awe-inspiring.
Marcus caught all the little moments that we missed and being able to sit down together after our honeymoon and relive the day was just so special. It also means that we’ll never have to wonder what was said in our ceremony or speeches – it’s recorded for all time. It’s something I can see us showing our children and grandchildren one day.
We almost didn’t get a videographer, thinking it was an unnecessary expense. In the last 2 months, we decided we were going to go for it and the hunt began. The 4 minute trailer is easily the thing that I am happiest we got from the whole wedding. It makes me happy everytime I watch it and it was a quick way to show people that didn’t attend exactly how our day went.
I was a little disappointed with the full footage though. I found it awkward watching back over the full ceremony and speeches which weren’t as edited or polished as the trailer. I realised though that I’ve only ever seen trailers or highlights posted from videographers and my expectations were probably a bit unrealistic. It is worth asking if they can show you a full version of their work if possible. I still think it was our best investment and am happy to have the full footage to look back over in a few years and to show our children. I would recommend searching far and wide and out of the box. It took me a long time to find the right style, at a reasonable price and we ended up paying a travel fee (still worked out cheaper than 90% of the others I looked at).
Thanks so much for your comment! What a great tip re asking to see full films- I’d never actually thought that through that what we are online is normally only the highlight reel!
My fiancé and I always knew we wanted a cinematographer but found it really difficult to find one who’s films were beautiful and services also affordable on our budget. Then one Friday I was browsing through Polka Dot Bride and came across a film by Alex Ball – I loved the film and checked out his website and was delighted to find that he was within our budget! So now we’ll be having the amazing Alex Ball capture our day and it’s all thanks to you, Ms Polka! 🙂
Always LOVE LOVE to hear a bride finding vendors on Polka Dot! That;s wonderful news Lauren!
