Steve and Michelle

During Steve’s trip to Aarhus in Denmark to visit his father he decide it was time to propose, then on our European adventure in the exact spot he decided on 6 months earlier he asked me to marry him. We collected post cards on every stop which ended up being our table numbers, along with 160 Eiffel tower key rings as name tag holders on the tables. Our love of France inspired our classic wedding from there it was all such a magical ride.

I wore a French inspired Mariana Hardwick gown which I flew to Melbourne to buy with my mum along with a handmade head piece, with shoes from Badgley Mischka. My dad bought me my very first pearl bracelet and surprised me with it on the day. I added a black velvet belt to add a touch of me. I had asked the dress makers at Mariana Harwick to stitch in our wedding date for my something blue. My bridesmaids wore Truese dresses ordered online from wild child style lad. Make up by the beautiful Megan Mastaglia from Make up by Meg and Em and hair by the queen of up do’s Kellie Baker from White Willow Hair Design.

A bouquet of white peonies, muscadets spray roses, buds and a hint of silver suede foliage by the very talented Jappalin from Flower Talk this was probably the best vendor I’ve ever worked with and met.

We always wanted to be married outdoors and when we found the area in Mosman Park we knew it was meant to be. We were married in November  and never thought it would rain, silly us didn’t have a plan b so on the day as it poured in rain we sent out uncles and aunties to buy all the umbrellas they could find and a gazebo from BCF to protect the bridal party. I wasn’t worried about the rain, even though everyone around us seemed to be stressing out. I wasn’t even late for the ceremony; I just wanted to see Steve. Just as I got out of the car the rain had stopped and soon after the ceremony the sun was shining.

I walked down the aisle with my dad, then mum joined us. We walked down to two songs  ‘Rise’ by Eddie Vedder and ‘I will wait’ by Mumford and Sons, our amazingly talented DJ Rod Munoz from Kaviar Djs played at both our ceremony and reception.

We asked my brother Brett to help with the ceremony and we were incredibly lucky to have a family friend as our celebrant. It made our ceremony so personal and meant so much to us to have the two of them by our side marrying us.

My sister, best friend and Steve’s two brothers formed our bridal party, along with our nieces and nephews for the ceremony. We had the best afternoon taking photos, laughing and enjoying a few champagnes. This was probably our favourite part of the day. Steve’s dad was born in Denmark so to pay homage they had the Australian and Danish flag cuff links purchased from ebay. The boys wore Hugo Boss suits from David Jones.

Steve and I held our reception at Frasers Restaurant, we fell in love with the space and booked their last date out for 2012. The food, the staff and the atmosphere was amazing, exactly how we imagined it. Emily Smilkovic our wedding events manager along with Jappalin Manning our Florist brought the space and our vision to life.  Rod Munoz from Kaviar Djs kept the dance floor packed all night, and still to this day people still talk about how much they danced and had a great night.

With the help of our families months prior we hand made all the jams and had all our wedding invitations and stationery ordered from Sarah at FoglioPress through etsy. Anna’s cakes in Kardinya created our marble 5 tier cake which we are still enjoying to this day. We put together pamper packs in the ladies toilets complete with perfumes, hair pins, mints and combs to keep fresh throughout the night.

The most special part of the reception was seeing the bridal table which Jappalin worked very hard on, a perfect addition to go with the thrones and tiffany chairs both hired from orielle. The lovely ladies from Bride and Groom Store supplied the candelabras on half the guest tables, while Flower Talk supplied the crystal vases and bowls for the other tables.

We were so lucky to have the most amazing vendors and family who helped create the perfect wedding for us to always remember. To commend our beautiful parents we gave them their own entrance to show them how special they are to us.

Our first dance was “halo” by beyonce, it’s not the typical music we listen too but after we first viewed Frasers it was playing on the radio. It made us both so emotional that no matter what happened we would have that song as our first dance as husband and wife.

Ms Gingham says: I love this wedding and that dress is one of my absolute favourites by Mariana Hardwick! Congratulations to Michelle and Steve!

Michelle says: “There were so many little details Steve and I created from personalised socks for the groom and groomsmen to the cufflinks the boys wore to commemorate their Danish and Australian heritage.”
