Phil and Kirstin
Phil and I met through mutual friends just over four years ago. At one party we got chatting and ended up talking for hours and we have been inseparable since. Phil proposed at the top of hanging rock in November with a beautiful trail of rose petals and champagne on ice and we were married the following April.
We were married in our home towns in the Macedon Ranges. We both grew up in the same area and love the country so we wanted to have a wedding that reflected us as a couple. The church we decided on was a little sandstone yellow church on a little hill right across from the primary school I attended in Gisborne. I always loved that church and its quaint little garden. Our reception was held at the Grange Cleveland Winery in Lancefield.
I asked my Dad and his brother and sister to sing Edelweiss in German during the ceremony. It was one of my Oma’s favourite songs and incorporated a personal touch into the ceremony.
I wore a blush pink organza style gown by Vera Wang that I purchased on a holiday in New York. I fell in love with it instantly, it reminded me of a rose. I also found the pearls I wore in a flea market in New York and wore my mum’s beautiful veil.
After the ceremony we had a light afternoon tea in the little weatherboard hall next to the church. We had tea, pink lemonade, cupcakes and home made sausage rolls.
My lovely bridesmaids wore vintage laces dresses made out of recycled slips and lace in blush pinks and creams.I found these handmade beauties on etsy by Amanda rose bridal. Each bridesmaid picked the style of their dress and hair styles.
The boys wore navy blue suits, gingham shirts in different pastel colours and bow ties.
On the way to the winery we pulled over on the side of the road to take some photos with our bridal party. I spotted an old barn which worked in perefctly with our theme. Our photographer, Stevie was the best, super relaxed and full of creative ideas.
My sister is a florist (Flowers by Ame) and she created a beautiful hanging feature from the roof made from recycled goods covered in moss and hanging candels.
Outside in the court yard we had hay bails covered with gingham material for guests to sit on.
We are very fortunate to have very talented and creative family and friends! My sister (Flowers By Ame) helped us create a beautiful vintage garden theme. Pastel colours were the theme that inspired most of our decorations. Home made bunting and garland was hung all around the reception. Lots of flowers in recycled jars, old books, moss, doilies and candles decorated our tables. Our delicious cake was made by Blackbird Cakes in Wooodend.
We opted for a cocktail style wedding to keep it more relaxed so people would mingle and party! We had a soul funk band (Austin Busch & band) and a 1950’s DJ play who was also our driver. The dance floor had a very good working out that night!
Mingling with family and friends outside on the balcony whilst the sun put on an amazing sunset was definitely one of the highlights. The view was spectacular, I remember thinking to myself, just soak in every moment of this, it was a perfect.
We had our first dance to Josh Pyke’s ‘The lighthouse song’. We both love that song, we always have the album on repeat for hours!

Ms Gingham says: A beautiful, relaxed whimsical country wedding to start off the week. Divine Vera Wang gown Kirstin!!!
Kirstin says: “I’m from Gisborne Victoria, and am currently studying urban and regional planning at university. I love all things vintage, particularly in pastel colours, I enjoy redecorating old furniture, and collecting little vintage gems. I’m also interested in animal welfare and decorating.”
Oh goodness – this wedding just took my breath away! A Vera Wang is positively amazing in blush pink orangza… and the gingham shirts with navy suits and bow ties makes me want to do my wedding all over again! So pretty. Such fun. Congrats Kirsten + Phil!
This is stunning! Wondering where Kristin got her cute hair piece made? Lovely hair style.. Can you tell me more?
