Andrew and Desiree
I think the most memorable part of how we got engaged was before Andrew proposed, he called my dad who lives in Jakarta, Indonesia to ask for my hand in marriage. The bad phone reception definitely did not help with the language barrier. Andrew had been rehearsing on how he will ask my dad and was quite nervous about it. He proceeded by asking my dad twice and after receiving the same response of “I’m sorry but I can’t understand you Andrew”, he ended up screaming out to my dad “I want to marry your daughter!”. Thank God my dad finally got the message, I guess it was third time lucky!
I can’t believe that it was over a year ago when this took place! At first, Andrew was against the idea of having an engagement photo session because he hates it when people take photos of him. But I told him that this will be a good practice before our wedding day and he finally gave in. 🙂
A good friend of mine, Harvard Wang who is a very talented young photographer took these shots of the day. It was one of those very hot Melbourne summer days, 37 degrees with no clouds in the sky! Even though the weather was shocking, we had a lot of fun doing the shots as Harvard was just amazing and so very patient with us. He was not bossy and very relaxed with everything, so I can’t recommended him highly enough!

Ms Gingham says: I love these images. Can’t wait to see the wedding!
Desiree says: “My name is Desiree Sutrisno, I moved down to Melbourne from Jakarta, Indonesia 14 years ago to study and ended up living in Melbourne until now. What can I say, every time I try to leave this country, it always pull me back in, I do love Melbourne.”
