Martyna and Phill

There are so many utterly romantic wedding venues across Australia that I am always excited to see how couples use them differently to create just the right setting for their own wedding day.

Martyna tells their story. “We met in high school in year 8, became best friends in year 10 and started dating in year 11. So I guess you can call us high school sweethearts.”

Darin Collison Photography captured today’s romantic wedding photographs with the incredible backdrop and golden light.

Bride Martyna chose a lace gown by Augusta Jones. She added earrings from Lovisa and handmade her hairpiece and bracelet.

Martyna and Phill chose Inglewood Estate for their wedding, Martyna explaining, “We were married in the Inglewood Chapel and had the reception at the estate in what looked like an old wool shed. The place reminded us of outback Australia with a folky European feel and given that I’m Polish and my husband is Australian, it felt perfect! ”

Martyna walked down the aisle to Damien Rice – The Blower’s Daughter.

“Turns out our celebrant, Fr.Terry Kean married our photographer 14 years ago! Small world… ”

Martyna’s bridesmaids wore coral pink gowns – one made by a dressmaker, one purchased from Forever New and one from Review and paired with from Lovisa necklaces.  Ritual earrings and bracelets made by Martyna.

Of their photographer, Martyna says,  “Darin Collinson – a new age Austin Powers. He was great! We barely noticed he was around throughout the day which was great. We didn’t have to spend time posing for photos and just got to enjoy the day!”

The couple played out a few Polish traditions upon their entrance to the reception, Martyna remembering, “On entering the reception we followed a Polish tradition. Our mums presented us with a traditionally cooked loaf of bread which had a small indent in the middle filled with salt. We were also presented with 2 shot glasses – one had vodka in it, the other water. The bread we ate, which represented that we will never go without in our marriage. The salt – that life is not always sweet. And the shots – well whoever got the vodka (me!) supposedly would wear the pants in the marriage!”

Martyna describes the day as “Relaxed and rustic.”

For their first dance, the couple chose Michael Buble – L.O.V.E. The wedding was filled with DIY, the couple made the invitations., Martyna’s bridesmaid’s father made the wedding cake which was decorated with flowers, and pulled together all of the flowers for the day.

Congratulations Martyna and Phill! Thank you for sharing your wedding day with us! Thank you also to Darin Collison Photography for sharing today’s wedding with us!
