We first met jeweller Ali Miles when she was a bridesmaid in one of our featured weddings, now she’s launched a beautiful website showcasing her luxury jewellery collection. I’m always interested in jewellery design and the work, thought and art that goes into each and every piece.
Ali has trained in contemporary jewellery design and her pieces are modern, sculptural pieces of art. Her first collection “Lacqueus” debuted at Australian Fashion Week in 2008 and led to her establishing her boutique in 2010. Working with customers on custom pieces is one of Ali’s favourite things- creating an object out of their wishes and desires that they’ll treasure forever? That’s her passion and what makes her get out of bed every day. The stories (like Ali tells), are one of my favourite parts of her jewellery.
Her ring designs are particularly inspiring to me – I love the combinations. A rose gold ring with a creamy yellow diamond, antique gold paired with oval and pear shaped gems, the art deco glamour of diamonds surrounded by platinum and borders of gemstones. In fact, the way Ali surrounds the centre stone is one of the design elements I love the most – elements of diamonds and gemstones woven in unexpected ways.
I love the other pieces Ali has designed too- the earrings with big gemstone drops are just the kind of thing I’d love to own and wear with a simple gown. I think they’d look beautiful with a simple, plain wedding gown- something bright, fun and unexpected!
