This gorgeous inspiration shoot comes to us from Pod and Pea. The inspiration of this sweet tea party could easily be translated for a bridal shower, kitchen tea or even a fancy Spring wedding.
Jess of Pod and Pea explains, “The inspiration for the shoot first stemmed from our location, the maze. Every girl loves a garden party with her girlfriends, and when your garden is a maze made of 800 conifers, it’s got to be something special. We dreamt up a story about 5 childhood friends that have an annual reunion in Scarlett’s garden: the maze. We imagined that each year they would they drop everything and get together for champagne, stories and lots of laughter. We told each of the suppliers this story – and the creativity stemmed from there. We knew we wanted to use girly colours, but the palette really developed when we found a collection of vintage coloured tea tins. They made the perfect vases for our floral arrangements and added a great pop of colour to the centrepieces.”
“Little Bones Stationery provided invitations, menus and place cards – all using the theme ‘ Scarlett’s Annual Tea Party’.”
“Bird & Brak crafted some gorgeous floral headpieces for each of the girls to wear. L’Indulgence Hair & Beauty looked after the hairstyles with soft waves, braids and a bohemian feel.”
“Neither modern nor vintage, the shoot has a timeless feel. But many vintage pieces were used: from the antique, re-purposed chairs, through to the vintage lace tablecloths and bright antique tea tins which held the beautiful blooms.”
“Mintaro Maze is a real-life hedge maze in the Clare Valley of South Australia. Little known by many, those who do visit are delighted by its endless twists and turns. This gorgeous location also happens to backyard of Jacinta, one of the Pod & Pea girls. Her family planted it when she was a child. We wanted to put on a beautiful tea party (or bridal shower!) for a group of girls, with bursts of colour amid the lush green background of the maze.”
“Vintage fabrics were used to create hand-made bunting.”
“Of course no tea-party is complete without a little entertainment, so after ‘tea”, the girls headed to the centre of the maze for lawn games and cocktails from our homemade drink stand.”
“In the afternoon, they retired to the picnic area where they lazed in the dappled light and read vintage Vogue magazines from the 1970s.”
