Michaela & David
I think art galleries are one of the most fantastic places to have a wedding- after all the decor is pretty much taken care of with the colourful paintings and prints. And the clean white walls, urban style floors? They win me over every time. A blank canvas for a celebration if you will!
Today’s celebration is completely urban and modern, taking place in Melbourne’s CBD in the beautiful space that is fortyfivedownstairs.
Photographs today are by Matt Reed who is truly candid and natural with the photographs he takes.
Of their venue choice, Michaela explains “fortyfivedownstairs was the venue for both the ceremony and the reception as it has two levels. It’s a not for profit arts space that houses both theatre and visual arts. It is a venue close to my heart as I worked there as an intern during university and it is truly a beautiful and soulful space. Weddings are only held in the space a couple of months of the year outside of season.”
Michaela chose a gown from Priscilla of Boston and paired with Alan Pinkus shoes.
The event was catered by Ed Dixon Food Design. Michaela recalls “It was such amazing food and they had such amazing staff”
Soil Flowers by Kate Main created the floral arrangements.
Of their photographer, Michaela says, “Matt’s work is exactly what I wanted, honest, candid and gorgeous. You want to have photos which capture the emotion and joy of the whole experience and every shot Matt took is a moment in time from the night. Everything works as an entire composition.”
The menu was displayed for all to see on a large chalkboard hung on the wall.
From the ceiling, hung masses of tulle black and white pom poms.
The tables were decorated with black and white photographs of the couple.
Guests were gifted boxes of chocolates from Koko Black with the tags and place cards created by Edgeinspired.
The wedding cake was by The French Lettuce.
Congratulations Michaela and David! Thank you for sharing your wedding day with us! Thank you also to Matt Reed for sharing today’s images!
Can anyone tell me what type of flowers they are? Such a beautiful purple! <3
