Marrianne and Brett

What an intimate, beautiful celebration I have to share with you today. Our couple already have a family, they have a long history together and yet their rooftop Melbourne wedding is as beautiful and as precious as a wedding of two people starting out together. I love the idea of the ceremony melting into the celebration, surrounded by food wine and plenty of good friends.

Photographs today are by Suellen Lee Photography who has captured such candid moments. It’s like we’re part of the celebration instead of seeing photographs.

Brett’s smart purple and taupe outfit came from Ted Baker.

Marrianne wore a gown from Stellini with shoes from Wittner. Her earrings were a gift sent from her mother in Spain.  Of her gown, Marrianne says ” It had a beautiful button and plait detail at the neck and fell down in pleats.  The dress was tied at the waist with a satin bow finished with a vintage diamante brooch.”

Marrianne and Brett got ready together at the Park Hyatt. Of their photographer, Marrianne says “We wanted a set of photographs that told the story of the whole day, including the  the moments we missed – and that is exactly what Suellen gave us.  She captured the individual personalities of each and every one of guests and the mood of the day perfectly.  Everyone who has seen our photos has said they are the most innovative and artistic, yet intimate wedding photos they have ever seen. Suellen’s eye for details and composition ensures everyone of her photos is a work of art in its own right. Some of our favourite shots are in the room at the Park Hyatt while we were getting ready.  You can see the excitement and happiness, and also maybe a few nerves as well!”

The couple walked to their wedding, Marrianne recalls “We stayed at the Park Hyatt for three nights.  We got ready together and walked through Melbourne to the venue on a perfect Autumn morning.  Our photographer, Suellen came with us.”

Marrianne and Brett chose the rooftop venue of Siglo  for their wedding celebration. Marrianne explains “All three floors of the venue, The European, The Melbourne Supper Club and Siglo are regular haunts of ours.  Brett took me for dinner at The European on one of our very first dates.  So when he proposed there was not another place we could possibly consider for our big day. We wanted a venue that would provide us with food and wine of exceptional quality. Our guests were enchanted by the beautiful location, the amazing views and the attentive and professional staff.”

The couple chose a wedding dessert from Dolce Fantasia. Marrianne recalls “A Croquembouche filled with vanilla cream and decorated with sugar strands and small flowers.  This was served as dessert.  Due to its delicate nature and the sugar strands it had to be made and assembled on the morning of the wedding.  This meant a very nervous wedding guest was given the job of delivering it to the venue.”

Marrianne had a wrist corsage made of White Tulips and Hydrangea leaves  by Flower Temple. She explains “I wanted to keep my flowers with me, not leave a bouquet on a table somewhere, so decided on a simple and delicate wrist corsage.”

Marrianne remembers “We didn’t have an aisle (entrance) we arrived together, at the same time as our guests.  Our ceremony was half way through the day, the party was well under way before we said “I Do”!! A very dear friend Bill, did help me through the nerves of walking to stand with my husband-to-be to say our vows though.”

The ceremony was performed by Bernard Morey. Marrianne explains “We wanted a short simple ceremony, and Bernard gave us exactly what we asked for.”

Marrianne loved, “Proclaiming our love for each other in front of our children, family and friends.  The perfect weather and venue. Waking up together on the morning of our wedding and getting ready together. All in all it was a wonderful way to start our married life and we wouldn’t change a thing looking back.”

Marrianne says, “We wanted the day to feel like a garden party with a wedding thrown in for good measure.  That is exactly what we got. The venue, with its relaxed feel and beautiful views of the Treasury Building and beyond as well as the stunning weather on the day meant we had a day full of memories we will always treasure. Suellen’s photos capture this.”

Marrianne describes the day as ” Intimate, understated yet spectacular and completely perfect.” The couple’s children all wore outfits from Zara.

“We worked together on the details to the finest degree.  It was important to us that both of our personalities shone through, even if this meant that we did not end up with what many would describe as a ‘traditional wedding’.”

Guests enjoyed canapes and fine wine as they celebrated catered by The European Restaurant. Marrianne explains, “Jess Lazarro, Events and Marketing at the European was wonderful.  She listened to everything we wanted.  She took time to taste and suggest food and wine to us.  Brett’s back ground is in wine so he knew exactly what would be right, but it didn’t stop us having a few very enjoyable tasting sessions beforehand!”
