Stylish Sydney Wedding Film

People often ask me whether I had a good time on my wedding day. To be honest, I can’t remember much of it! I certainly remember laughing, crying and it being the best day of my life, but the rest is somewhat of a blur. In fact, I remember far more about planning the wedding than the wedding itself. Thank goodness for video and photography!

Here’s what I do remember of the planning (and a little from the day itself):

A touch of green….

Being a green fanatic, a choice of colour scheme was easy, and our theme became a ‘touch of green’. We decided on just a ‘touch’ of green to avoid our wedding resembling an event that Kermit the Frog might find appealing! We used accent colours of black and cream, with a backdrop of soft pink hues for the reception.

Our save the dates featured one green and one charcoal coloured owl and these were tied with either black or green ribbon. Our invitations, by The Aerialist Press, had a pale green watercolour background.

Meanwhile, my very stylish groom trawled the shops endlessly for the perfect pair of green stripey socks to add whimsy to his tuxedo (for anyone wondering, green stripey socks are surprisingly rare). For my gorgeous maids we found chiffon Amsale gowns at Angela Wilson in Paddington.

My favourite green detail was the toffee apples we used as bonbonniere and tied with black ribbon. Even we were surprised by how much our guests loved these. One was even spotted leaving our reception carrying a bouquet of toffee apples!

Wedding Choos

After having searched far and wide for green wedding shoes, I sadly came up empty handed. Thankfully, my groom came to the rescue and found me a pair of blue-grey Jimmy Choos that added just the right amount of sparkle.

Speaking of sparkle….

For the reception I removed the cathedral length tier of my veil, keeping the shorter tier. Stashed in my green Karen Millen clutch was my “party belt”, a one of a kind piece from Karen Willis Holmes, which I put on to mark the beginning of the festivities.

A fairytale ending

To our (mostly my) horror, it was pouring with rain the day before our wedding. Thankfully it cleared up and although it started to sprinkle after the ceremony we were rewarded with a rainbow just as we were about to go inside for the reception.
