Tscharne and Joshua

Classic weddings by the water are such a beautiful way to tie the knot- especially when the water is as picturesque as Sydney Harbour! The bride wore a classic custom designed gown and the wedding styled in black and white lent itself to the formal atmosphere of the day.

Tscharne tells the story of their relationship. “We met at a mutual friend’s 30th in 2007 and it felt like we had known each other for ever. His terrible jokes lured me in and still to this day they make me laugh.

But our proposal was much more special.  We got engaged while in Positano in May 2010.  We almost didn’t make the trip, with our flight being cancelled less than 24 hours before departure due to the volcano eruption in Iceland.  We had to slightly delay our trip and change the schedule, but we still made it to one of the most beautiful places we’ve ever been too.  Joshua proposed with a beautiful cocktail ring from Tiffany’s, so we could design the ring together when we arrived back to Australia.”

Photos today are by SugarLove Weddings who photographed Tscharne and Joshua’s wedding with a  classic, elegant feel which complimented the wedding beautifully. Untitled Filmworks shot a film of the day.

Tscharne chose a sweetheart strapless gown designed by Steven Khalil with crystal encrusted heels from Panache. She recalls the dress as one of her favourite parts of the day. “I loved having a one of a kind wedding dress.  A collaboration of ideas between myself and designer Steven Khalil. ”

Tscharne’s bridesmaids wore strapless black gowns from Seduce. Tscharne says, ” The girls and I got ready in a beautiful suite at the Hilton hotel we toasted to the day with a glass of Dom Perignon.  Whilst the boys got ready at home in Rozelle but went the local pub, The 3 Weeds for a few calming ales.  We had a few shots before heading to the church in Zeta Bar. ”

The couple chose St Mary’s, Waverley for their wedding ceremony. Tscharne explains “The ceremony was in the church I was christened in.  Most brides know how their wedding is going to be long before they meet their husband to be, for me, my only dream of my wedding was for it to be in this church.”

Tscharne walked down the aisle to the classic Pachelbel’s Canon in D which was an especially important moment for her. “Having my father walk me down the aisle.  He is terminally ill so it was extra special to me.”

Tscharne recalls ” After being pronounced husband and wife, we took a self-portrait in the church.  The congregation found it hilarious. ”

The atmosphere outside the church was celebratory with guests blowing childlike bubbles at the couple. Tscharne remarks “Rather than flower petals thrown at us, we liked the creative look of bubbles.  I hand-made tags that said “blow me” that were tied to the bottles.”

Of their photographers, Tscharne says, “We booked in SugarLove because their style was classic and effortless.  Their work really captured the events and emotion of the day with what seemed like a fly on the wall approach.  And without the need of a post-production edit to enhance the images.”

Tscharne and Joshua held their evening reception at Sergeants’ Mess . Tscharne recalls, “Sergeants’ Mess was the only venue we physically looked at and as soon as we walked through the doors, we knew it was the one.  Lucky for us, 18 months out, we secured the last Saturday in Spring 2011.”

The tables were decorate with white roses and the black and white favor boxes filled with jelly beans made by the couple. Tscharne explains “We used Stacks of Wax for the lanterns on the tables.  When the sun went down, it gave a beautiful soft glow to the room. We hand made much of the stationery.  The RSVP cards, order of service, table numbers, menus (which on the flip side was the place setting).  I also had a “thank you” stamp made and stamped all the tags for the wedding favours.  Joshua and I put all the boxes together for the favours and I tied them all up with the bow.  I’m such a perfectionist, that I ensured every piece of paper was cropped perfectly, every piece of ribbon was the same length.  I knew these were details that no one else would notice, but I knew it was there.:

The couple chose a cheese cake as their wedding cake from Fromaggi Ocello.

For their first dance, all the newlyweds wanted to do was have fun. Tscharne explains “Joshua and I love to dance, but we have a silly dancing style.  So we knew a romantic ballad wouldn’t capture our style.  So we chose “Finally” by CC Peniston (played by the band) and did our dance free-style.  Many guests thought we had it choreographed!”
