Sinead and Aaron

An intimate backyard wedding is such a beautiful way to celebrate a marriage. There’s something really special about having your wedding at home, in your backyard with your favourite people. Sinead and Aaron, our newlyweds did just that and had the time of their lives.

Sinead and Aaron met at the Big Day Out and after nine years together, decided to tie the knot in Perth.

Photographs are by Michelle Kiddie Photography. I love Michelle’s candid, natural style which suited Sinead and Aaron’s feeling of their wedding day perfectly.

Sinead wore a vintage long sleeved gown and paired it with Alexander McQueen heels. She explains, “I wore a gown from the 1960’s from “Gorgeous Boutique” on Beaufort Street in Inglewood.  This is the most adorable store.  The owner has been collecting vintage wedding dresses for the last 30 years.  She has just recently started selling her collection.  My dress was one that she has had for the past 18 years.  I knew it was the one when my mum started crying when I walked out of the changing-room.”

Brigette from Bridal Creations planned and helped Sinead and Aaron style their wedding day.

Sinead and Aaron made the decision to marry at home because “It seemed like the best option for us as we didn’t want to have to work around restrictions that were imposed on us by a venue.  We wanted a relaxed, fun day; which we got because it was a really great party!”

Tonic String Trio played Sinead down the aisle to “God Only Knows” by The Beach Boys.

Sinead remarks “We were able to have our wedding photos in our own garden.  It was important to Aaron and I that we didn’t leave our guests for hours while having our wedding photos taken (we didn’t want to miss out).  So we simply stepped into the garden while our guests  enjoyed celebrating with champagne.  Our photos are not only a record of our wedding, but also a record of our home.”

Ben Duncalf designed the stationery for the day.

The groom’s suit was by St Augustine Academy.

The event was catered by Ryan John. Sinead explains “Aaron and I love to eat so the catering provided by Ryan John was certainly a highlight.”

The intimacy was part of what Sinead and Aaron loved about their wedding day. “We loved the intimacy of the day.  We only had 40 of our closest family and friendspresent, so every single person that was there was incredibly special to us.”

Dinner was served on vintage crockery from Her Handpicked Harvest. It tied in with the pink and gold colour scheme of the day.

The night ended with plenty of dancing, or as Sinead puts it “The daggy dancing.  A wedding isn’t complete without some daggy dance moves, and there were certainly lots of those! We danced until 4am, which is something that you could never do at a traditional venue. And being at home…flat shoes weren’t far away!”

Congratulations Sinead and Aaron! Thank you for sharing your wedding day with us! Thank you also to  Michelle Kiddie Photography for today’s photographs!
