There’s something about getting married at a winery – it honestly never fails to have me drooling (and dreaming of my next winery visit!) Today’s wedding is so glamorous, so stylish, but keeps in with the relaxed, beautiful nature of Australian weddings.

Katie recalls how she and Marcus came to be. “Marcus and I met through his sister (and my best friend!) Bec. I had been friends with Bec for a while but had never actually met her brother properly. He gave us a lift out one night, and ended up staying for a while. Later that night he got my phone number from Bec. He called me the next morning and we arranged to go out for ice cream for our very first date.”

Photos today are by Adori Studios. Robeccer seems to know just how to capture, elegant, natural portraits.

Katie’s bridesmaids wore soft blue gowns from Brides of Manuka and along with Katie, specially chosen jewels. Katie says “I got the bridesmaids earrings online from Fletcher & Grace, they were absolutely stunning! I made them crystal bracelets to match with little diamante bow charms attached. I got my earrings and combs from Anabelle’s Bridal, the same bridal shop where I got my gown. I wore my Mother In law’s pearl necklace around my wrist as a bracelet, for my ‘something borrowed’.”

Katie wore a strapless gown from Sugar & Spice Bridal and carried a bouquet styled by Erindale Florist.

Katie and Marcus were married at Lake George Winery. Katie walked down the aisle to Peter Gabriel’s “The Book of Love”. She says “We organised for a friend of a friend to write the music for us, which we then passed on to Sweethearts Music for them to learn. The lyrics to the song are just so perfect and honest, and the music on the string instruments is just so beautiful. It was perfect!”

The couple’s daughter was a special part of the ceremony. Katie recalls “The ceremony was my absolute favourite part of the day. We included Leah quite a bit in the ceremony, she did such a good job! She brought our rings to us (she handed me my ring and Marcus his, so we did a quick swap over as she turned away! There were quite a few chuckles at this point!), she helped to release the butterflies, and we gave her a special ring on a necklace that she can grow into. She also led our beautiful bridesmaids down the aisle. She was a bit confused about which direction to walk in, so she paced a little bit at the end of the aisle. Just as she was ready to turn and walk in the wrong direction she saw Marcus, called out “Daddy!” and they ran towards each other. I’m sure there wasn’t a dry eye under the Winery’s beautiful old oak tree.”

Having their daughter there was one of Katie’s favourite memories. “Having my daughter, Leah, play such a huge part in the ceremony made it just that much more special to us. Also having my three best friends in the whole world, and my two sisters by my side as I married the man of my dreams. Being able to share such a special day with our loved ones was just really so special for us.”

The reception was also held at the winery. Katie says “Lake George Winery is such an amazing, picturesque venue. It created the mood for the whole day. You can’t help but feel relaxed out there, it’s amazing!”

Katie lent her hand to many elements of the day “I did a lot of DIY actually! I made organza ribbons for the chairs at the ceremony and the vine posts on the way to the ceremony spot, I wrapped ribbons around all of the candles, I made the invitations and the favours, and I planned where everything in the reception would be. I did most of the planning myself, and I loved every second!” Cherry Seed Cakes created a cupcake tower.

The couple’s first dance was romantic. “We danced to Stevie Wonder’s “Sunshine of My Life”. I’m a big Stevie Wonder fan! Marcus took me to his concert in Sydney a couple of years ago. When he played Sunshine of My Life, the whole arena was up dancing. Marcus looked at me and said “We should have our first dance to this when we get married!” We weren’t even engaged at the time, but I guess it’s been decided since then!”

Congratulations Katie and Marcus! Thank you for allowing us to share your wedding day on Polka Dot Bride! Thank you also to Robeccer of Adori Studios for sharing today’s photographs with us!
