Hello grooms! No doubt you’re thinking about your bucks party – you might even be thinking more about it than your wedding at the moment! It’s such a wonderful time to get all your friends together for a catch up and to celebrate your upcoming nuptials. There are so many things you could make this celebration and you have the opportunity to make it something that is truly ‘you’. So, today we thought we’d offer you some food for thought by suggesting some alternatives to the regular kinds of bucks parties.

And now without further ado, let the good times roll…

Scavenger Hunt: This is loads of fun, especially if you live in a town or city with lots to see and discover. The aim of the hunt is to find all the items and complete all the tasks on the premade list before the other teams. To personalise it, get your bride to make the list by thinking up places that are special to you as a couple (if you did it yourself that would be unfair to the other competitors!). Otherwise, check out Great Race. They run Amazing Race and Survivor-like events in Sydney and Melbourne, and they even tailor to bucks parties.

Laser Skirmish: Think paintball but indoors and less painful. Gamers and those wanting to let their inner child come out and play for the day will have a blast running around in the dark with lasers, firing at targets and the enemy! Lots of bowling alleys across Australia (like Strike and Kingpin) now have laser skirmish. You’ll definitely work up an appetite while playing so luckily they even offer bucks party packages including food and drink!

Camping Trip: All you need is a couple of tents, a portable BBQ and good friends. Get away from it all by picking a camping spot (it could be totally random, somewhere you’ve always wanted to go or a personal favourite from when you were a kid) and relax under the stars for a couple of nights. Can’t think of anywhere to go? Take a look at the Camping Australia Directory.

Murder Mystery: You can either plan this out yourself (don’t forget the costumes, scripts, props and prizes) or you can let the professionals take care of it for you by hiring a murder mystery party kit and a host (we hear that GOZONE Murder Mysteries are great). Perfect for a cold and windy winter’s night after a yummy, hot dinner at a nearby restaurant. Don’t forget the hot chocolate (or rum if you need something a little stronger!) by the fire to calm your nerves afterwards…

Barefoot Bowls: Imagine a sunny Saturday afternoon down at your local bowling club, beer in one hand and a bowl in the other. This is the perfect party idea for a chilled out, sporty kind of groom. Being barefoot means the game is relaxed – so you don’t need to be an expert at lawn bowls to play! To make things a little more interesting, split your guests into teams and play for prizes (Coolest Team Uniform, Best and Fairest, Wooden Spoon, etc).

If you’d like to share with us your plans or what you did for yours, please leave a comment. We’d love to hear from you!
