Lyn & Peter
A sunny, sunshine wedding today- it’s a strange way to describe a wedding but it’s exactly what I feel when I look through the photos! They’re full of fresh spring colours and beautiful moments, and takes place on Hope Island in Queensland. Perfectly sunshiney right? Plus we have a video coming up soon (I love that, it’s like sneaking a peek at all aspects of the wedding day!)
Peter explains how he and Lyn came to be. “ There is a special story. In 1999, at the tender age of 16 I attended my first ever underage dance party, it was here that I saw Lyn for the first time and immediately I was attracted to her. I drew up the courage to ask her to dance, and from here we became friends. A few months later Lyn had to move to Sydney for her dad’s job, and we lost contact with each other.
It wasn’t until 2009 that our paths crossed again (in this time we had both had a couple of serious relationships), I didn’t know it but his brother stayed in contact with Lyn through Facebook, and I was going to meet up with her for lunch to catch up. Luckily, at the time, I was up in Brisbane visiting his brother and after he found out that his brother was catching up with Lyn, I sort of invited myself along (by pure coincidence both Lyn and I were single at this time). We met up for lunch and got along really well, I was quite persistent as I didn’t want to miss this opportunity again, the rest is history, 6 months later we got engaged (with the majority of the relationship long distance) and we’ve been together ever since, happier than ever.
When you’re a bit older and you’ve had a few relationships, you really know what you are looking for so when you do find that person, you know very quickly if they’re right for you or not and with Lyn, I knew straight away that she was the one and always has been, but this time the timing was right and we were both at the right stage of our lives.”
Photos are by Naomi V Photography– what a fresh, fun take she’s done on this wedding! Love the captures of the details and the moments.
Lyn wore a strapless Maggie Sottero gown for the wedding ceremony with her bridesmaids in soft, nude pink gowns. She carried a bouquet of green and white, with hr bridesmaids carrying spring coloured bouquets of oranges, pinks, purples & greens by I Love Posy.
Lyn wore pale pink heels from Stuart Weitzman and a fascinator from Vintage1947 on Etsy.
Lyn and Peter held every part of their day at Links Hope Island. 16 Strings String Quartet provided the beautiful music for the ceremony. The bridesmaids and flower girl walked down to Pachelbel – Canon in D and the bride walked down to the classic Bridal Chorus by Wagner. She says “One of the things that I will never forget is the look on Peter’s face as I was walking down the aisle. He was crying before I even started walking. Words cannot describe how beautiful it was but luckily our talented photographer and videographer captured that moment.”
Lyn says “We wanted to created something elegant, soft and romantic which a touch of vintage. We chose soft white flowers in an array of varieties for our ceremony and reception with a touch of pink. One of my favorite items was the bridal arch with the chiffon and orchids and also the white tiffany chairs which in my mind define my style of wedding.”
The golf course provided he perfect backdrop for photos. Lyn recalls “All the pictures were taken around the golf resort, there were so many good locations there that we didn’t want to waste any time (or precious sunlight) unnecessarily driving around to other venues. The sunset over the lake was so beautiful and the photos on the bridge just as it started getting dark were amazing”
Lyn and Peter had a lolly buffet for their guests “We wanted our guests to have a great time so we paid special attention to adding in “fun” elements like the pink candy buffet which we spent months collecting various apothecary jars from around the country. The photo booth which was also a real hit. We sourced a lot of props and also make moustaches on sticks. All the photos were printed with our wedding logo on the bottom which was a really nice touch.” The “Love Sweet Love” banner was made by Earmark on Etsy while MMGraphicDesigns on Etsy created sticks and custom noddle boxes for guests to take their treats home in.
Lyn changed into a tea length tailor made gown perfect for dancing for the reception with a bird cage veil from Vintage1947 on Etsy. Sweet Art Cakes created the sweet two tier daisy covered wedding cake.
The reception was held in the Fountain Room at Links Hope Island. Lyn says “The reception area in the fountain room was the perfect size and the beautiful fountain in the middle of the room created the perfect mood. As Peter and I entered the reception room, Links staff placed dry ice into the fountain which created the most spectacular entrance!”
The stationery was made by Lyn & Peter. Lyn says “Peter and I designed and made all the invitations ourselves. We used beautiful paper from Cristina Re and got the pearl clusters custom made overseas. The pearl cluster was also used on all the bridal bouquets. We also made the order of services, menus and place cards in the little frames which we tied to each guests water glass.”
After cutting the cake, Lyn and Peter danced a special bridal dance. Lyn recalls “We didn’t want to put our guests through 5 mins of pain by watching us sway side-to-side, so we did a bit of planning and had dancing lessons ~ every fortnight for about 6 months leading up. Our waltz piece was unique and customised for our dance floor size and our capabilities. Our guests enjoyed our dance very much, and we’re both very proud that we pulled it off with no mistakes.”
Another highlight was the speeches. “The speech given by the bridal party and our dads were AMAZING! I am not one to cry but these speeches were unbelievable and were the main focus of the video.”
Congratulations Lyn and Peter! Thank you for sharing your wedding day with us on Polka Dot Bride! Thank you also to Naomi V Photography for sharing today’s images!

I love the colour palette and the soft tones of the images!
I absolutely LOVE those heels and cannot find them anywhere online! 🙁
Lora- the flats Lyn wore were these ones http://www.footnotesonline.com/Stuart-Weitzman—Blingy—Clear-Jelly-Flat-Sandal/StuartWeitzman-Blingy-Crystal/product
Looking at the bridesmaids photos- I think the pink shoes were worn by one of her maids. I can’t find them at all online but I know places like Midas which have since closed did them at one stage.
You could buy your own though and DIY the heel?
Love those flats! And the DIY is a great idea, thank you!
I love the cocktail gown Lyn wore at her reception…can anyone tell me where she got it from?
