Mandy and Garry
A gorgeous country style Western Australian wedding for you this afternoon!
Our newlyweds Mandy and Garry met playing mixed netball and they set a beautiful vibe for their wedding day. “The rustic/ vintage /country atmosphere we created was perfectly suited to us – both being from the country originally. It was a really fun wedding, with the garden games providing a good ice breaker. I love how Mandy and Garry put so much of themselves into their wedding day and created a wonderful celebration while doing so.
Photos today are by Paper + Lace Photography who I am so thrilled to have them make their Polka Dot Bride debut! I’ve been in love with the soft, gorgeous elegance of the work of Paper + Lace for a while now and it’s such an honour to have them join us today!
Mandy wore a gown from Hobnob Bridal, her bridesmaids wore gowns from Forever New. Mandy’s mother made her veil “My mum sewed the veil. It only cost $70 for the fabric and lace, what a bargain! It got so many comments and it looked so pretty with the dress.”
Mandy’s brother Tim from Parties & Gifts helped plan the wedding and designed the stationery. The flowers were beautiful fabric creations from Milkpod Studios on Etsy.
Mandy and Gary were married in the gardens of in the grounds of Meadowbrooke Estate “We wrote our own vows and they were really special to us. Before being given away, I said a special thank you to my wonderful dad for all the support and encouragement he has given me. It was a touching moment, not a dry eye – including dad! Each of our brothers did a reading during the ceremony and our mums acted as witnesses.”
Mandy’s grandparents – who just celebrated 60 years of marriage – warmed the rings during the ceremony to pass on some well wishes and wisdom!
Mandy walked down the aisle to “All You Need Is Love” by The Beatles. Garry is a musician, so the music for the ceremony was carefully planned.
Mandy says “Garry made the arch, which we got married under, and carved our initials in the monogram. It is now a seat in our garden. We also made the rustic sign pointing the way down to the ceremony. I made some paper pinwheels to lead guests down to the ceremony location, which was tucked behind some trees.” The Tiffany chairs were hired from the Bride + Groom store along with birdcages for the gift table and the bride’s clutch purse.
Mandy and Garry’s wedding was right beside some old train tracks. Mandy says “Some of our favourite photos were taken when the photo shoot was coming to an end and the sun was getting low. We were in a field near the train tracks, next to a big oak tree. All the elements came together to create some magical photos.”
The groom and groomsmen wore suits from Penguins Formalwear.
Mandy says “As a guest book/record we asked guests to print their thumbprint like leaves on a tree. Mandy’s brother (Tim from Parties & Gifts) designed the tree, the guest seating board, menu’s, place cards table numbers and the very special ceremony booklets. We printed most of the stationery at home and they turned out great”
The cake was made by Mandy’s sister in law. A garden games area was setup with bunting sewed by Mandy. “”We liked the relaxed, rustic feel of Meadowbrooke Estate. It has a gorgeous outlook over a green field and gardens, where we had the ceremony. We also organised some garden games (bocce and croquet) to entertain the guests between the ceremony and reception. We had picnic rugs, personalised stubby holders and some vintage style glass bottle cool drinks !”
Mandy and Garry tried to put as many personal touches as they could into their wedding day .”We painstakingly designed and sourced all the items for the table centrepieces. My aunty did the flowers – they are Lillianthums from a local supplier. We also did the bridal table with the lovebirds and nest.”
“We danced to The Day Brings by Brad. We did a lesson in the week before our wedding. It is a favourite song, something we talked about before we got engaged!” The photo booth not only served as a fun moment for guests, but the photos were used as thank you cards sent out by the newlyweds.
Thank you Mandy and Garry for sharing your wedding day on Polka Dot Bride! Congratulations on your marriage! Thank you also to Paper + Lace Photography for sharing the gorgeous photographs today!

Talita,
Not sure where you are from, but the Train tracks were in Boyanup, next door to the venue. And now there is also a Vintage Train museum that would make excellent place for photos!
Could someone please tell me where the photos of the train tracks where taken? I would love to visit I have been researching and can’t find anything like it hope someone can help me with the information I’m looking for ~Storme
Hi Storme, from what I can see they are right near the venue- Meadowbrooke Estate.
