I love, love, love at home weddings. A lot like I love barn weddings or really any wedding where there’s a heartfelt connection to the venue. Luckily for Lucie and Cameron, their venue was completely stunning and such a perfect choice for their garden & butterfly inspired celebration.
Having family around them made Lucie and Cameron really appreciate their day. “The whole week of the wedding was special; we had all our family stay together in my parent’s house and celebrated every moment. There was so much laughter and frivolity I think we all forgot there was a wedding to prepare for!”
Events In Tents provided the marquee and hung paper lanterns for the reception which was held on the back lawn overlooking the dam.
Lucie’s design skills were put to good use during the reception. “I designed and made butterfly name tags for the reception which sat on each person’s wine glass. One of my favourite wedding details was the lolly table in the reception marquee. We filled glass jars with red, white and pink lollies and made paper bags tied with ribbon with a tag which read “please fill me with sweet treats from the lolly table”. The guests loved a bit of a sugar fix while on the dance floor later that night!”
Luci says of her wedding cake, “The cupcakes were one of my favourite wedding details. Being a huge fan of cupcakes, choosing the type of cake was easy. Cake Star made them to reflect the theme with pink and red flowers, butterflies and cherries. They were delivered during the afternoon before the ceremony and I wasn’t allowed to see them whilst getting ready. It almost killed me, I was dying to see the cakes!
The first time I saw them was when I walked into the reception marquee, all I could do was smile…they looked amazing! And they were delicious too, chocolate, lavender and rose flavours…wow! One of my favourite memories is of after the wedding, sitting in the pool with all the family until the early hours of the morning, eating cup cakes and talking about what an amazing night it had been.”
The wedding celebration was full of love and laughter, Lucie says “The attention to detail made the event particularly special and personal. We were keen to have a wedding that reflected our personalities and felt relaxed and intimate. My parent’s garden was the perfect venue, it felt so personal and touching. It was also fantastic to be able to share one of our favourite places with all our favourite people.”
Thank you Lucie and Cameron for sharing the celebration of your marriage with us! Congratulations! Thank you also to Todd Hunter McGaw for sharing the beautiful photos with us today!

She is beautiful! I love the cupcake tiers! Usually, I’ve seen some pretty tacky ones and I cringe! But, those are beautiful!
