There was a glow to Sophie and Robert’s Ambrose Estate wedding that felt almost fairytale – warm light spilling across the grounds, florals that moved with the breeze, and a colour palette that felt soft enough to breathe in. Their day radiated connection and comfort, with beauty that never shouted but instead wrapped itself around every moment. Merge Photography and Chapman Films captured that glow, creating a gallery that feels as warm and dreamy as the day itself.

When their mutual friends bumped into each other at the bar, Sophie and Robert’s worlds collided. “Rob and I got chatting and ended up talking for hours (to the point where Rob’s friends thought he had gone home without saying goodbye). There was an instant connection between us; however, we didn’t exchange details that night (we only knew each other’s first names). So, the next day, Rob and his best friend did some serious detective work and ended up tracking me down on Instagram. Lo and behold, I got a dm from Rob that day, and the rest is history,” Sophie shared.

Robert’s friend (a sports photographer) contacted him, saying that he wanted to expand his portfolio to include more couples photography and was enlisting the help of Sophie and Rob. Little did Sophie know, Rob and his friend were in cahoots! “The brief was to wear white and to bring our puppy Lulu with us. When we met with the photographer, he immediately started taking photos of us, directing us into different poses and shots. He then asked me to stand ahead of Rob whilst overlooking the water. He then told me to turn around, and when I did, Rob was on one knee and asked me to marry him. Turns out the whole thing was a cover story by Rob to ensure the moment was captured, and those photos are so special!”

Robert and his wedding party wore classic black suits with a matching bow tie from the Suit Vault.

In a true show of fate, the very first dress Sophie tried on at Bridal by Aubrey Rose happened to be the one! “It was a beautiful gown by a local designer, Rachel Rose, that featured a low back with a large bow, and a lustrous, soft blush finish all over. Not that I had much choice, though, my mum and sisters gave me no other option, to the point that my sisters offered to pay for the dress themselves, just so I would get it. I wouldn’t have it any other way, though. I felt like a princess the entire day,” she shared.

Her own wedding party consisted of her two sisters and two of her best friends. Sophie wanted to focus on her bridesmaids’ comfort more than anything else, so together they picked out these dreamy Bec + Bridge dresses with plenty of movement. “It ended up being perfect as two of my bridesmaids were pregnant at the time of the wedding and their dresses fit them beautifully.”

Ambrose Estate in sunny Wembley was the perfect home base for this dreamy wedding, and thankfully, it was also centrally located for their guests. “It was absolutely beautiful, and we’re so glad we went with them. From the beautiful grounds and rooms to the food, staff, and event support, I can’t recommend them enough,” shared Sophie.

With so many beautiful photos, it wasn’t easy for Sophie to pick one as her favourite – but two definitely stood out. “It’s SO hard to pick. There’s a shot of Rob and me holding hands, walking away from the camera, with the beautiful backdrop of UWA in front of us. This photo is stunning. I also really love one of Rob and me standing next to each other with my arm around his and my head resting on his shoulder (the one above!) There is something so beautiful about the colours/light in this photo, it just feels so dreamy.”

If there’s one detail from this dreamy wedding that has stuck with Sophie, it’s how beautiful her flowers were! “I can’t stop talking about our wedding flowers… when I say they were a dream come true, I mean it. Annaliese from Signature Floral Design is simply magic, and she brought my whole vision to life. When I met with her to discuss the florals for the day, I felt I couldn’t articulate what exactly I wanted. Safe to say, Annaliese completely understood and absolutely delivered. I was in awe of the florals and constantly stopped throughout the night to take them in and appreciate how much effort was put into them. I am still not over how breathtaking they were.”

Sophie walked down the aisle with her mum and her dad on her arms as “Can’t Help Falling In Love” by Kina Grannis floated through the air.

Their ceremony was intimate, yet fought off the autumn chill with the warmth and love it radiated. “We were lucky enough to have two of our beautiful friends read at the ceremony.”

Jodie from Merge Photography helped Robert and Sophie capture their day in all its dreamy glory, perfectly encapsulating the romantic atmosphere. “I cannot recommend her enough. Jodie is so professional, courteous, considerate, organised, and supportive, and she was the perfect presence on such a big day. She made us feel so comfortable and guided us through much more than just the photos. She was a huge help in organising the timeline of the day, and she put our needs above her own. She deserves all the praise and so much more.”

Robert and Sophie were also lucky enough to have their beautiful fur-baby, Lulu, at the wedding, tackling the all-important ring-bearing for them.

Equipped with a Cricut, Sophie created / customised all the stunning save-the-dates, napkins, place cards, wedding signs, bridal boxes, and wedding invitations by hand! “Let’s just say putting together a wedding is certainly a labour of love.”

The advice Sophie and Robert want to leave for couples planning their own dreamy weddings is this: “Everyone says that your wedding day goes so quickly, and unfortunately, it’s completely true. My advice would be not to stress over the little things and just be present. If things don’t go the way you wanted them to, that’s okay! It just makes your wedding day uniquely yours and no one else’s. Remember to breathe and take it all in. And most importantly, remember what the day is truly about – you and your partner celebrating your love. Don’t lose sight of the bigger picture.”

Congratulations, Sophie and Robert! And thanks to Merge Photography for capturing and sharing with us.
