Set against the elegant charm of Bendigo’s Ravenswood Homestead, James and Jamie’s wedding was an ode to timeless elegance. From the engraved cufflinks to handmade stationery crafted by the bride’s business, their celebration blended sentiment with style in every detail. With Sam of The Infinity Collective capturing the magic, their day felt beautifully authentic.
James and Jamie first met just a couple of months after she turned 18, at a friend’s birthday party. Amidst the music and laughter, she noticed James immediately and found a reason to start a conversation. The pair quickly discovered they had a lot in common. “We quickly bonded over our shared love for animals and Nissan Skyline R34, little things that made our connection feel all the more natural and easy,” Jamie shared.
When it came time to propose, James planned something deeply meaningful during a holiday to Jamie’s birthplace: Thailand. He had secretly arranged a pool villa overlooking the water, setting the stage for the moment he’d ask the biggest question of all. To buy some time for the surprise setup, he convinced her to go kayaking, gently coaxing her out of the villa even when she would have preferred to stay in. “Knowing me, I was reluctant to leave the comfort of the villa, but he gently persuaded me to go kayaking and explore. He extended our outing so the staff could prepare the space for his surprise, though my patience ran thin and we returned early. Walking in, I was utterly surprised, thinking it must be a misunderstanding, until my eyes landed on a sign that read, ‘Jamie, will you marry me?'”
James chose a classic black tux from Anthony Squires, wanting to feel timeless and classy. “He prefers a simple, polished look, and for our black-tie wedding, it felt just right: effortless and special without being over the top,” she explained.
“The groomsmen wore sharp tuxedos with peak lapels, while the bridesmaids chose their own styles in varying shades of olive silk, allowing each of them to feel confident and comfortable.”
While exploring all the different styles of wedding dress, Jamie decided that designing her something herself and working with Napa Couture was going to work the best for her. “I chose a simple Mikado silk fabric with classic Old Hollywood straps, a low-cut back, and a subtle high slit on one leg. To finish the look, I added a soft veil with a delicate lace trim, keeping everything elegant yet understated.”
Among the many thoughtful details woven into their day, two stood out most for Jamie. She created an In Loving Memory sign to honour her late father, a heartfelt tribute that ensured he was part of the celebration. And during their first look, she surprised James with cufflinks engraved with the image of his beloved childhood dog, a gift that moved him deeply.
Ravenswood Homestead was the perfect venue for this timeless wedding, situated in Bendigo, where James was born. “Our wedding had a timeless, heritage-inspired feel – simple, elegant, and quietly refined. Surrounded by peaceful paddocks, Highland cows, and sheep. It felt personal, grounded, and just right for us.”
As a beautiful nod to their Scottish heritage, James’ mum and sister both wore kilts from their family’s traditional clan.
Jamie walked down the aisle with her mum to “Golden Hour” played softly by their live harpist. For James, this was the moment he remembers most clearly: “Everything else seemed to quiet down, and it felt like a calm, special moment between just the two of us.”
With the help of Prunella Events, Jamie’s floral dreams came to life. Full of timeless elegance, the whimsical flowers were picked out to perfectly balance natural beauty and refinement.
Led by their celebrant, Olivia Ferraro, their ceremony was exactly as Jamie and James had imagined. “The ceremony was truly special, and I wished the moment could last. Standing there, I quietly took in every face, the scents, and the gentle shifting clouds, feeling grateful to simply be present. Our dog, like a son to us, was there too, looking dapper in his tuxedo and doing so well.”
For Jamie, sharing the day surrounded by their loved ones was what made it truly special. “My favourite detail from the day was the quiet, heartfelt moments: like James’s reaction to the cufflinks and sharing the ceremony surrounded by loved ones and our dog Paco. Those simple, meaningful touches made it truly unforgettable.”
Sam from The Infinity Collective captured each and every moment alongside Jamie and James, perfectly encapsulating the timeless atmosphere. “Our friend Sam said from day one that she’d be the one capturing our wedding. What she delivered went far beyond anything we could have imagined. We’re truly amazed and so grateful for her incredible work,” Jamie shared.
All of their stationery, signs and linens were created and supplied by Peach and Paco – Jamie’s own business! “I created our own stationery suite, menu, personalised wine tote with our last name, date, and little drawings inspired by the day. I also made all the signage and the wishing well – a true labour of love from one crafty bride.”
When it came to their vendors, Jamie and James knew they could trust each and every one to do their magic – and they couldn’t have been happier with the results. “Our pavlova cake from Nicole at Bake Me I’m Yours was nothing short of extraordinary – stunning to look at and even more delicious to taste.”
The five things that really stood out to James and Jamie included:
“1. The heartfelt moments shared with loved ones, especially my mum walking me down the aisle.
2. James’s thoughtful cufflinks gift, honouring his childhood dog during our first look.
3. Our dog, dressed in his tuxedo, being part of the day despite the long journey.
4. The timeless, heritage-inspired setting in James’s hometown of Bendigo.
5 .The personal touches I created – from stationery to signage – that made the day uniquely ours.”
They chose Nat King Cole’s “LOVE” for their first dance. “We chose an upbeat, timeless classic over slow songs – because slow dances just aren’t really us. It was fun, joyful, and perfectly suited to our style.”
Congratulations to James and Jamie on such a heart-warming and elegant celebration, and thank you to The Infinity Collective for capturing their day so beautifully!
